Preform architectures effect on laser ablative behavior of C/SiC–Ti3SiC2 composites

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology
In this work, the effect of preform architecture on the ablative behavior of C/SiC–Ti3SiC2 composites is investigated. Two-dimensional laminated (2D) and three-dimensional needled (3DN) architectures are fabricated and subjected to laser ablation ...

A Superhydrophobic 3D Cell Culture System Reveals the Mechanobiological Role of Cancer‐Associated Fibroblasts in Prostate Cancer Metastasis

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A superhydrophobic 3D cell culture platform enables rapid and consistent formation of heterotypic tumor–stroma clusters, and reveals how physiological shear conditions influence metastatic signaling. Mechanical stimulation of cancer‐associated fibroblasts promotes sustained cytokine secretion and survival‐promoting pathways, showing how multicellular ...

Fibre distribution inside yarns of textile composite: gemetrical and FE modelling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
This article addresses the experimental investigation and modelling of the uneven fibre distribution inside yarns of a textile composite. The test data is given for the tri-axial carbon-fibre braid; a considerable irregularity is revealed for the fibre ...

Bacteria‐Responsive Nanostructured Drug Delivery Systems for Targeted Antimicrobial Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Bacteria‐responsive nanocarriers are designed to release antimicrobials only in the presence of infection‐specific cues. This selective activation ensures drug release precisely at the site of infection, avoiding premature or indiscriminate release, and enhancing efficacy.

Influences of impact energy on the densification and mechanical properties of powder metallurgical Fe–C–Cu preforms during a powder-forged process

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2020
Accurate impact energy control is important for the success of the powder-forged (P/F) technique. This paper address how impact energy influences the densification and mechanical properties of powder metallurgical (P/M) preforms during a P/F process by ...

Fluidic packaging of microengine and microrocket devices for high pressure and high temperature operation

open access: yes, 2004
The fluidic packaging of Power MEMS devices such as the MIT microengine and microrocket requires the fabrication of hermetic seals capable of withstanding temperature in the range 20-600/spl deg/C and pressures in the range 100-300 atm.

In Situ Amine Formation to Modulate MOF‐Derived PdIn N‐Doped Carbon Catalysts

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
An amine‐assisted approach converts PdIn‐MOF into PdIn intermetallic nanoparticles embedded in N‐doped carbon. In situ‐generated amines trigger early Pd nucleation, producing smaller PdIn domains than direct pyrolysis. Amine sterics and basicity tune composition and particle size, while solvent and amine co‐determine textural features.
