Labor induction at 41+0 gestational weeks or expectant management for the nulliparous woman: The Finnish randomized controlled multicenter trial

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica
Introduction Neonatal and maternal risks increase in term pregnancy as gestational age advances and become increasingly evident post‐term. Management practices of late‐ and post‐term pregnancies vary, and the optimal time point for intervention by labor ...

Comparison of the Effect of Misoprostol and Double-Balloon Catheter in Preinduction of Cervical Ripening among Postterm Women

open access: yesمجله دانشکده پزشکی اصفهان, 2018
Background: Labor induction despite unfavorable cervix leads to a prolonged phase. Several methods are provided for preparing the cervix before induction of labor to improve the probability of success labor.

Lifetime glucocorticoid profiles in baleen of right whale calves: Potential relationships to chronic stress of repeated wounding by Kelp Gulls [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Baleen tissue accumulates stress hormones (glucocorticoids, GC) as it grows, along with other adrenal, gonadal and thyroid hormones. The hormones are deposited in a linear fashion such that a single plate of baleen allows retrospective assessment and ...

At‐Home Early Diagnosis of Mastitis: Calibration‐Free Analysis of Sodium to Potassium Ratio in Breast Milk

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
MAMAWEL is introduced as the first calibration‐free potentiometric sensor for at‐home mastitis diagnosis. By measuring the sodium‐to‐potassium ratio in breast milk, the device reliably differentiates between healthy and mastitis‐affected samples with less than 10% error.

Maternal acellular pertussis vaccination in mice impairs cellular immunity to Bordetella pertussis infection in offspring

open access: yesJCI Insight, 2023
Given the resurgence of pertussis, several countries have introduced maternal tetanus, diphtheria, and acellular pertussis (aP) vaccination during pregnancy to protect young infants against severe pertussis.

Proactive versus standard support of labour in nulliparous women; study protocol for a randomized, controlled trial

open access: yesTrials, 2020
Background Prolonged latent phase of labour often results in a traumatic birth experience. Prolonged labour is associated with more operative deliveries, haemorrhage, fetal asphyxia and poor birth experience.

40 Weeks of Gestation is as High-Risk Gestation as 41 Weeks in Low-Risk Pregnancies

open access: yesJournal of Rawalpindi Medical College, 2020
Introduction: Postdate pregnancy is associated with a higher frequency of obstetrical complications and perinatal morbidity. The incidence of meconium-stained amniotic fluid is 30% at 40 weeks which is very high. This study aimed to find out the need for

Human Endometrial Extracellular Matrix Hydrogel Facilitated Endometrial Mesenchymal Stem Cells for Endometrial Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Adequate thickness of the uterine lining is crucial for women with thin or damaged endometrium to achieve pregnancies. Endometrial mesenchymal stem cells (eMSC) can facilitate the cyclical repair and regeneration of the human endometrium. In this study, the human endometrium derived extracellular matrix hydrogel supports the growth of eMSC promoting ...
