Ultraschall in der Medizin - European Journal of Ultrasound, 2021
AbstractTwin pregnancies, resulting in 2–3 % of all deliveries, are high risk pregnancies which need specialized care. A correct dating of pregnancy and the assessment of the chorionicity/amnionicity in the first trimester (< = 13 + 6 gestational weeks, GW) is essential for further monitoring.

Recent advances regarding twin pregnancies have focused on several problems, including the detection and definition of risk in relation to chorionicity, the management of a pregnancy with a single anomalous fetus, the prediction of prognosis and the management of twin-twin transfusion syndrome, and the detection of preterm labor.

Acta geneticae medicae et gemellologiae: twin research, 1979
A total of 123 twin pregnancies were studied, 68 by records analysis only, and 55 by serial haematological assessment in detail. The incidence of low haemoglobin levels is found to be greater than in singleton pregnancy; evidence of iron and folic acid deficiency is common in sternal marrow aspirates but not in peripheral blood films.

Monochorionic Twin Pregnancies
Clinics in Perinatology, 2005The monochorionic placenta should be considered a developmental malformation and, as such, represents one of the most common birth defects. Great strides are being made to unravel the progression of nature's successful attempt at human cloning through fission.

This review evaluates the role of ultrasound in twin gestation. Ultrasound is essential in the diagnosis and management of perinatal complications common in twins, including fetal anomalies, conjoined twins, acardiac twinning, fetal demise, prematurity, intrauterine growth retardation, and twin-to-twin transfusion.

Ovarian twin pregnancy is quite uncommon. We present a case of an ovarian twin pregnancy associated with pelvic endometriosis. The ultrasonographic findings in our case were similar to those of malignant ovarian tumor. Five cases of ovarian twin pregnancy, including this case, are reviewed.

A group of 590 women who, 4 to 5 weeks after their last menstrual period, were confirmed to be pregnant, as measured by the human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) by radioreceptor assay. Nine of these women had serum hCG levels approximately twofold higher than the others and were suspected of having twin pregnancy. When these women were tested at 12 weeks
