Solvent‐Based Spray Coating in Pneumatic Conveying in a Dedicated Spray Chamber Using Rapid Prototyping Created Nozzles

open access: yesChemie Ingenieur Technik, EarlyView.
Combining the coating and transportation of particles into a single process step promises time savings and omits the need for separate coating equipment. Experiments were conducted using a vacuum pneumatic conveying system equipped with custom rapid‐prototyped nozzles and coating chambers.

Influence of Contact Pressure on Performance and Crossover in Zero‐Gap Alkaline Water Electrolysis

open access: yesChemie Ingenieur Technik, EarlyView.
Cell performance and product gas quality in zero‐gap alkaline water electrolysis are influenced by the mechanical contact pressure in the electrode area. With a newly developed contact‐pressure cell, it was found that the influence of contact pressure can vary drastically, depending on the cell configuration, electrode type, and diaphragm.

Hydrogen donor‐assisted visbreaking of Canadian oil sands bitumen

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
Abstract High‐viscosity Canadian oil sands bitumen requires processing for efficient transportation and refining. Partial upgrading technologies, primarily based on thermal processing, can effectively reduce, or even eliminate, the use of costly diluent, increase bitumen quality and market value, potentially decrease greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and

A novel bubbling fluid bed reactor for the autothermal pyrolysis of waste plastics

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
Abstract A new pilot‐scale fluidized bed reactor operated under continuous conditions was developed and tested for the thermal pyrolysis of high‐density polyethylene (HDPE). The study focused on assessing the reliability and operability of the system under different operating conditions (400–550°C), while monitoring mass and energy balances, product ...
