A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Fundamental Rights Complaints in the Preliminary Reference Procedure

open access: yes, 2023
The procedure for a preliminary ruling is central in the ‘complete system of protection’ offered by the Union to its citizens. Since Article 263 TFEU grants only a very reduced standing to ‘non-privileged applicants’, Article 267 TFEU became the main way for individuals to bring their claims against the EU before the European Court of Justice.

Preliminary results from a simulation of quenched QCD with overlap fermions on a large lattice

open access: yes, 2003
We simulate quenched QCD with the overlap Dirac operator. We work with the Wilson gauge action at beta=6 on an 18^3x64 lattice. We calculate quark propagators for a single source point and quark mass ranging from am_q=0.03 to 0.75.

Dual targeting of RET and SRC synergizes in RET fusion‐positive cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Despite the strong activity of selective RET tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs), resistance of RET fusion‐positive (RET+) lung cancer and thyroid cancer frequently occurs and is mainly driven by RET‐independent bypass mechanisms. Son et al. show that SRC TKIs significantly inhibit PAK and AKT survival signaling and enhance the efficacy of RET TKIs in ...

Very preliminary reference Moon model

open access: yesPhysics of the Earth and Planetary Interiors, 2011
Abstract The deep structure of the Moon is a missing piece to understand the formation and evolution of the Earth–Moon system. Despite the great amount of information brought by the Apollo passive seismic experiment (ALSEP), the lunar structure below deep moonquakes, which occur around 900 km depth, remains largely unknown.

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Hierarchichal-segmented AO in order to attain wide field compensation in the visible on an 8m class telescope

open access: yes, 2017
We describe the preliminary optimized layout for a partially optimized concept of an optical-8m class VLT-like 2x2 segmented camera where each channel is assisted by an equivalent of an MCAO system where the ground layer correction is commonly employed ...

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

Toward an Ab-initio Description of Quasiparticle Properties [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Preliminary ab-initio applications of many-body Green's functions theory to the ground state of He-4 suggest that high accuracy can be achieved in the so-called Faddeev-random-phase-approximation method.

Accessing directly the strange quark content of the proton at HERA [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
We investigate a double-spin asymmetry for the semi-inclusive $\Lambda$ hyperon production in the longitudinally deep inelastic lepton-proton scattering, the sign of which can provide us with important information about the strange quark helicity ...
