Development and validation of a prediction tool to optimize antenatal corticosteroid timing in patients at risk of spontaneous preterm birth

open access: yesPregnancy, Volume 2, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract Introduction The objective of this study was to develop and validate a preterm birth (PTB) prediction model to optimize the timing of antenatal corticosteroid (ACS) administration in patients at risk of spontaneous PTB. Methods Secondary analysis of the nuMoM2b (Nulliparous Pregnancy Outcomes Study: Monitoring Mothers‐to‐Be) prospective cohort

Maternal outcomes following prenatal spina bifida repair: A systematic review and meta‐analysis

open access: yesPregnancy, Volume 2, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract Objective Prenatal surgical interventions for neural tube defects have been shown to improve fetal outcomes but are associated with previously poorly quantified maternal risk, which is inherently dependent on the surgical approach used. We hypothesized that a meta‐analysis would enable objective quantitation of maternal risk and safety ...

Association of COVID‐19 mitigation measures with preterm birth and cervical length: A cohort study

open access: yesPregnancy, Volume 2, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract Background We have previously reported that, in metropolitan Melbourne, mitigation measures implemented to mitigate SARS‐CoV‐2 transmission were associated with a reduced preterm birth (PTB) rate, both in spontaneous and iatrogenic births <34 weeks.

Optimizing Maternal Microbiome: Role in Improved Conception and Pregnancy Outcome

open access: yesReproductive Medicine and Biology, Volume 25, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
Maternal microbiome optimization: Minimized risk and simple corrective steps. ABSTRACT Purpose To evaluate the role of optimizing the maternal microbiome in improving pregnancy outcomes, focusing on preconception and early gestation, and to propose practical diagnostic and preventive strategies, particularly in low‐ and middle‐income countries (LMIC ...

The Actual State of Sexual Dysfunction in Newlywed Men Starting to Try for a Baby in Japan

open access: yesReproductive Medicine and Biology, Volume 25, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
We found that 139 (19.3%) in 719 newlywed men or men just before marriage were identified as having sexual dysfunction at our bridal examination. It was considered that men who are older, obese, or exhibit depressive symptoms are likely to experience sexual dysfunction before the initiation of fertility treatment.
