Abstract The immune system has long been recognized as a key driver in the progression of heart failure (HF). However, clinical trials targeting immune effectors have consistently failed to improve patient outcome across different HF aetiologies. The activation of the immune system in HF is complex, involving a broad network of pro‐inflammatory and ...

Abstract Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) is characterized by a lack of a specific targeted treatment and a complex, partially unexplored pathophysiology. Common comorbidities associated with HFpEF are hypertension, atrial fibrillation, obesity and diabetes.

Cilostazol in patients with heart failure and preserved ejection fraction—The CLIP‐HFpEF trial
• Cilostazol is an oral PDE‐3 inhibitor that may have advantageous effects in heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF). • Cilostazol significantly improved short‐term heart failure‐related health status scores (KCCQ‐12) and NT‐proBNP levels when compared to placebo.

Time-order of ventricular activation for premature beats in sheep and dogs
Average durations for the sinus QRS complex were 0.035 seconds for the sheep and 0.041 seconds for the dog. The average prolongation of premature beats was 145% in the sheep and 210% in the dog.

The effect of idiopathic premature ventricular complexes on left ventricular ejection fraction
Aim Current literature lacks a definitive threshold of idiopathic premature ventricular complex (PVC) burden for predicting cardiomyopathy (CMP). The main objective of the present study was to evaluate relationship between the PVC burden and left ...

Cardiac remodeling and arrhythmia in a mouse model of Depdc5 haploinsufficiency
Abstract Objective Some ion channel genes linked to developmental and epileptic encephalopathy (DEE) are also linked to cardiac arrhythmia, leading to the hypothesis that predisposition to cardiac arrhythmias may contribute to the complex disease presentation of DEE and possibly to the mechanism of sudden unexpected death in epilepsy.

Exercising electrocardiograms from Thoroughbred racehorses with exercise associated sudden death
Abstract Background Exercise associated sudden death (EASD), defined as a fatal collapse in a closely monitored and previously presumed clinically healthy horse that occurs during exercise or within approximately 1 h after exercise, is disproportionately more common in equine than in human athletes.

Ellagic acid improved arrhythmias induced by CaCL2 in the rat stress model [PDF]
Objective: In ventricular arrhythmias, due to their free radical scavenging action, antioxidant agents are usually used in the treatment of cardiovascular disease.
