Combustion characteristics of different premixed methanol charge compression ignition combustion modes

open access: yesThermal Science, 2020
This paper proposes two dual fuel combustion modes for a Diesel engine based on two alternative fuels and explores the influence of engine compression ratio on combustion and fuel economy characteristics under heavy loads. The results show that reducing the compression ratio can reduce the pressure rise rate of the combustion mode of methanol premixed ...

Polymorph‐Specific Electronic Transduction in WO3 during Molecular Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 38, Issue 43, 3 August 2026.
Metal‐oxide polymorphs with similar surface chemistry can nevertheless exhibit distinct sensing properties. In γ‐ and ε‐WO3, analyte adsorption appears comparable; yet, only ε‐WO3 induces a pronounced lattice electronic perturbation that accommodates charge in sub‐conduction band minimum states.

Scaling Up of a Lightweight Aggregates System Based on Recovery Raw Materials and With Fertilisation Capacity: From Laboratory Prototype to Semi‐Industrial Production

open access: yesApplied Research, Volume 5, Issue 4, August 2026.
Improved glass meltability enabled semi‐industrial prototyping of a residue‐derived PK fertiliser. Firing produced mechanically stable micropellets and induced partial vitrification, pore‐network reorganisation, delayed P release, but restricted K availability; 6‐month field trials on turfgrass and Photinia supported agronomic feasibility.

Approaching Gold‐Standard Sensitivity in a Portable and Versatile Gold Nanoprisms Thermoplasmonic Platform for Lateral Flow Detection of Biomolecules

open access: yesSmall, Volume 22, Issue 41, 22 July 2026.
This study presents a plasmonic thermal lateral flow (ThermoLFA) biosensor for ultrasensitive, early detection of biomolecules. By combining plasmonic gold nanoprisms (AuNPrs) and near‐infrared (NIR) laser activation, it enhances signal output beyond conventional LFAs.
