Partially premixed diffusion flamelets in non-premixed turbulent combustion

Symposium (International) on Combustion, 1985
The structure and extinction of partially premixed diffusion flamelets in a turbulent flow field is analyzed. It is shown that diffusion flamelets are disconnected if the variation of the mixture fraction around stoichiometric is large enough for the corresponding adiabatic flame temperature to be less than a characteristic freezing temperature. At the

Non premixed Supersonic flames: Combustion models

50th AIAA Aerospace Sciences Meeting including the New Horizons Forum and Aerospace Exposition, 2012
The aim of this work is to investigate the validity of combustion models that were developed for low-speed combustion and then traditionally extended to high-speed combustion. In fact, the assumption of fast chemist ry, as well as the flamelet chemistry model, must be validated in supersonic flows, where compressibility may affect the flame structure ...

Some developments in premixed combustion modeling

Proceedings of the Combustion Institute, 2002
Recent theoretical advances in premixed gas combustion are reviewed. The attention is focused on (1) self-acceleration of outward propagating wrinkled flames sustained by the intrinsic flame instability, (2) fragmentation of near-limit cellular flames and formation of self-drifting flame balls, (3) flame acceleration and extinction by large-scale ...

Premixed Laminar Flames in Mild Combustion Conditions

2005
Over the last years high efficiency and reliability, abatement of pollutants as well as energy saving have been the main requirements for the development of new combustion processes. In this background one of the most promising technologies is the combustion process that is carried out with high inlet temperatures and high dilution degrees of reactants.
