Learning alters theta amplitude, theta-gamma coupling and neuronal synchronization in inferotemporal cortex [PDF]
Background: How oscillatory brain rhythms alone, or in combination, influence cortical information processing to support learning has yet to be fully established.

Phosphorylation of the actin binding protein Drebrin at S647 and is regulated by neuronal activity and PTEN [PDF]
Defects in actin dynamics affect activity-dependent modulation of synaptic transmission and neuronal plasticity, and can cause cognitive impairment. A salient candidate actin-binding protein linking synaptic dysfunction to cognitive deficits is Drebrin ...

Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) was used to probe corticospinal excitability during the foreperiod of simple, choice, and go/no‐go reaction time tasks. Motor‐evoked potential (MEP) amplitudes showed early suppression ~150 ms prior to the go‐signal for all three tasks, and additional suppression when advance preparation was possible.

Predictive Coding or Evidence Accumulation? False Inference and Neuronal Fluctuations [PDF]
Perceptual decisions can be made when sensory input affords an inference about what generated that input. Here, we report findings from two independent perceptual experiments conducted during functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) with a sparse ...

Sensory Tricks in Dystonia: A Systematic Review and Nested Quantitative Synthesis
Sensory tricks transiently suppress dystonic movements in up to 90% of patients when systematically elicited, yet remain underyrecognized clinically. Their neurophysiological basis and deviceybased analogues offer a promising, underutilized therapeutic avenue warranting standardized assessment and controlled trials.

This scoping review maps EEG studies of temporal anticipation in coincidence anticipation timing (CAT) tasks. Eleven studies were identified, revealing high methodological variability. We provide practical recommendations to standardize CAT task design and EEG procedures, aiming to improve reproducibility and support future research in this emerging ...

Deliberating the scientific evidence base for influenza transmission to raw milk consumers
Abstract Transmission of influenza A H5N1, commonly known as avian influenza or bird flu, from wild birds to cows on 1073 large US dairy farms in 17 states, and from cows to 41 dairy workers in five states, has raised concerns about limited evidence for transmission routes.

Timescales of multineuronal activity patterns reflect temporal structure of visual stimuli [PDF]
The investigation of distributed coding across multiple neurons in the cortex remains to this date a challenge. Our current understanding of collective encoding of information and the relevant timescales is still limited.

We investigated ERPs for active (self‐initiated), passive (finger dragged down by electromagnet), or quick (as fast as possible) movements, followed by visual stimuli. In sensory ERPs, active and quick movements showed reduced peak amplitudes relative to passive.
