KBTBD13 is a novel cardiomyopathy gene

open access: yesHuman Mutation, Volume 43, Issue 12, Page 1860-1865, December 2022., 2022
Abstract KBTBD13 variants cause nemaline myopathy type 6 (NEM6). The majority of NEM6 patients harbors the Dutch founder variant, c.1222C>T, p.Arg408Cys (KBTBD13 p.R408C). Although KBTBD13 is expressed in cardiac muscle, cardiac involvement in NEM6 is unknown. Here, we constructed pedigrees of three families with the KBTBD13 p.R408C variant.

Exposures to pesticides and risk of cancer: Evaluation of recent epidemiological evidence in humans and paths forward

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, Volume 152, Issue 5, Page 879-912, 1 March 2023., 2023
Abstract Knowledge of the role in cancer etiology of environmental exposures as pesticides is a prerequisite for primary prevention. We review 63 epidemiological studies on exposure to pesticides and cancer risk in humans published from 2017 to 2021, with emphasis on new findings, methodological approaches, and gaps in the existing literature.

Identification of four TTN variants in three families with fetal akinesia deformation sequence

open access: yesBMC Medical Genomics
Background TTN is a complex gene with large genomic size and highly repetitive structure. Pathogenic variants in TTN have been reported to cause a range of skeletal muscle and cardiac disorders. Homozygous or compound heterozygous mutations tend to cause

Function-on-Function Regression for the Identification of Epigenetic Regions Exhibiting Windows of Susceptibility to Environmental Exposures [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
The ability to identify time periods when individuals are most susceptible to exposures, as well as the biological mechanisms through which these exposures act, is of great public health interest. Growing evidence supports an association between prenatal exposure to air pollution and epigenetic marks, such as DNA methylation, but the timing and gene ...
