Prenatal exposure to tobacco smoke and maldevelopment of the brain
2000Maldevelopment of the brain of offspring whose mothers smoke during pregnancy is being evaluated from data collected in all areas of Japan. As the criteria for the ‘foetal tobacco syndrome’ do not include maldevelopment of the brain, I proposed the term ‘foetal tobacco effects’ when the gestational age is < 37 weeks.
