Record phenological responses to climate change in three sympatric penguin species
Journal of Animal Ecology, Volume 95, Issue 3, Page 455-469, March 2026.This paper is impressive because we managed to monitor extensively a really difficult place to reach and operate in. We deployed 77 cameras across Antarctica and the Sub Antarctic islands to monitor three different species of penguins. We found that they are the fastest advancing vertebrates with respect to their timing of breeding.

Social media highlights the overlooked impact of cats on arthropods

By analysing over 17,000 photos and videos from social media platforms (iStock and TikTok), we documented 550 predation events of cats on arthropods.

Ungulate prey availability to inform Mexican wolf recovery within its historical range
The Journal of Wildlife Management, Volume 90, Issue 2, February 2026.We estimated the potential ecological carrying capacity for the Mexican wolf based exclusively on ungulate prey biomass estimated from camera trap surveys. In the United States, the potential density estimate is high (21.4–52.7 wolves/1,000 km2) owing to the presence and relatively high densities of elk, mule deer, and white‐tailed deer.

ChemCatChem, Volume 18, Issue 1, 15 January 2026.Rounded TiO2 nanoparticles we sucesfully synthesized with modulated sizes from 109 to 22 nm. We observed the WS2 and NiWS active phases forming parallel slabs to the surface. The presence of Ni helped W to be better dispersed, especially on the smallest nanoparticles, which resulted in the highest activity detected among the series.
