American Journal of Ophthalmology, 1930
The author presents the view that early wearing of full hyperopic correction tends to cause premature onset of presbyopia. In addition, a number of practical suggestions are offered as to the convenience of the patient in wearing the presbyopic correction. Read before the Minnesota Academy of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology, February, 1930.

Surgical correction of presbyopia
Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 2016Presbyopia is the most common refractive disorder for people older than 40 years. It is characterized by a gradual and progressive decrease in accommodative amplitude. Many surgical procedures for the correction of presbyopia exist, with additional procedures on the horizon.

Presbyopia in Light of Accommodation
Optometry and Vision Science, 1988The "dual, indirect, active" mechanisms of accommodation proposed by Helmholtz is reviewed. New supporting evidence shows that the insertion of the ciliary muscle is onto the span fibrils of the zonule in the interciliary process regions of the ciliary body. Thus, the peripheral zonule is the elastic antagonist of a unified ciliary muscle.

Presbyopia correction and the accommodation in reserve
Ophthalmic and Physiological Optics, 1989One method of determining the additional correction for presbyopia suggests leaving a percentage of the amplitude of accommodation in reserve. The rationale for this assumption seems logical because using all of the available accommodation is not sustainable without discomfort.

Scleral expansion bands for presbyopia
Ophthalmology, 2001To evaluate the safety and effectiveness of surgery using scleral expansion bands.Prospective, noncomparative, small case series.Six subjects were enrolled. Accommodation, age and presbyopia
2000Static and dynamic aspects of accommodation were investigated with regard to age and the development of presbyopia in two relatively large populations. The majority of accommodative parameters were invariant with age, which in most cases suggested normalcy of neuromotor control.
