A scientometric-inspired framework to analyze EurekAlert! press releases [PDF]
Press releases about scholarly news are brief statements provided in advance to the press, including a description of the most relevant findings of one or more accepted scientific publications, usually under the condition that journalists will adhere to an embargo until the publication date.

More on the pressing down game [PDF]
We investigate the pressing down game and its relation to the Banach Mazur game. In particular we show: Consistently, there is a nowhere precipitous normal ideal $I$ on $\aleph_2$ such that player nonempty wins the pressing down game of length $\aleph_1$ on $I$ even if player empty starts.

Examining European Press Coverage of the Covid-19 No-Vax Movement: An NLP Framework [PDF]
This paper examines how the European press dealt with the no-vax reactions against the Covid-19 vaccine and the dis- and misinformation associated with this movement. Using a curated dataset of 1786 articles from 19 European newspapers on the anti-vaccine movement over a period of 22 months in 2020-2021, we used Natural Language Processing techniques ...

Survival probability of surface excitations in a 2d lattice: non-Markovian effects and Survival Collapse [PDF]
The evolution of a surface excitation in a two dimentional model is analyzed. I) It starts quadratically up to a spreading time t_{S}. II) It follows an exponential behavior governed by a self-consistent Fermi Golden Rule. III) At longer times, the exponential is overrun by an inverse power law describing return processes governed by quantum diffusion.

Testing the Modified Press-Schechter Model against N-Body Simulations [PDF]
A modified version of the extended Press-Schechter model for the growth of dark-matter haloes was introduced in two previous papers with the aim at explaining the mass-density relation shown by haloes in high-resolution cosmological simulations. In this model major mergers are well separated from accretion, thereby allowing a natural definition of halo

Reassessing Measures for Press Freedom [PDF]
There has been an increasing interest in press freedom in the face of various global scandals, transformation of media, technological change, obstacles to deliberative democracy, and other factors. Press freedom is frequently used also as an explanatory factor in comparative empirical research.

Can Microsoft Academic assess the early citation impact of in-press articles? A multi-discipline exploratory analysis [PDF]
Many journals post accepted articles online before they are formally published in an issue. Early citation impact evidence for these articles could be helpful for timely research evaluation and to identify potentially important articles that quickly attract many citations.

Automated Statement Extraction from Press Briefings [PDF]
Scientific press briefings are a valuable information source. They consist of alternating expert speeches, questions from the audience and their answers. Therefore, they can contribute to scientific and fact-based media coverage. Even though press briefings are highly informative, extracting statements relevant to individual journalistic tasks is ...

Optimization of a Pressing Diagram in OSB Pressing [PDF]
This paper summarizes the results of a pressing diagram optimization based on changes in pressure, temperature and distance between frames of a continuous press during Oriented Strand Boards (OSB) pressing. Tests of selected mechanical properties were carried out on OSB/3 boards with a nominal thickness of 18 mm - a basic type with urea-formaldehyd (UF)
