Extraction of Grape Juice: Impact of Laboratory-Scale Pressing Methods on the Chemical Composition

open access: yesBeverages
The monitoring of grape maturity is essential for determining the ideal harvest time as well as for obtaining the expected characteristics of grape juice and, consequently, of wine.

Escape from TGF‐β‐induced senescence promotes aggressive hallmarks in epithelial hepatocellular carcinoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Chronic TGF‐β exposure drives epithelial HCC cells from a senescent state to a TGF‐β resistant mesenchymal phenotype. This transition is characterized by the loss of Smad3‐mediated signaling, escape from senescence, enhanced invasiveness and metastatic potential, and upregulation of key resistance modulators such as MARK1 and GRM8, ultimately promoting

ShcD adaptor protein drives invasion of triple negative breast cancer cells by aberrant activation of EGFR signaling

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identified adaptor protein ShcD as upregulated in triple‐negative breast cancer and found its expression to be correlated with reduced patient survival and increased invasion in cell models. Using a proteomic screen, we identified novel ShcD binding partners involved in EGFR signaling pathways.

Targeting the AKT/mTOR pathway attenuates the metastatic potential of colorectal carcinoma circulating tumor cells in a murine xenotransplantation model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dual targeting of AKT and mTOR using MK2206 and RAD001 reduces tumor burden in an intracardiac colon cancer circulating tumor cell xenotransplantation model. Analysis of AKT isoform‐specific knockdowns in CTC‐MCC‐41 reveals differentially regulated proteins and phospho‐proteins by liquid chromatography coupled mass spectrometry. Circulating tumor cells

Effect of shaping method on the densification of SnO2 ceramic pieces

open access: yesRevista Facultad de Ingeniería Universidad de Antioquia, 2014
Tin oxide, SnO2, has a big technological importance. For its uses it is of great interest to optimize the sintering conditions to obtain an adequate densification, microstructure and mechanical properties, depending on the technological application.

MET and NF2 alterations confer primary and early resistance to first‐line alectinib treatment in ALK‐positive non‐small‐cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Alectinib resistance in ALK+ NSCLC depends on treatment sequence and EML4‐ALK variants. Variant 1 exhibited off‐target resistance after first‐line treatment, while variant 3 and later lines favored on‐target mutations. Early resistance involved off‐target alterations, like MET and NF2, while on‐target mutations emerged with prolonged therapy.

Manufacture and Properties of Citric Acid-Bonded Composite Board made from Salacca Frond: Effects of Maltodextrin Addition, Pressing Temperature, and Pressing Method

open access: yesBioResources, 2018
Non-woody fiber is a sustainable resource for composite products. In this study, salacca frond was used as a raw material, and the effects of citric acid-maltodextrin composition ratio, pressing temperature, and pressing method were investigated.

Landscape of BRAF transcript variants in human cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We investigate the annotation of BRAF variants, focusing on protein‐coding BRAF‐220 (formerly BRAF‐reference) and BRAF‐204 (BRAF‐X1). The IsoWorm pipeline allows us to quantify these variants in human cancer, starting from RNA‐sequencing data. BRAF‐204 is more abundant than BRAF‐220 and impacts patient survival.

Analysis of causes of warping the plywood sheets

open access: yesActa Universitatis Agriculturae et Silviculturae Mendelianae Brunensis, 2011
The aim of the paper was to analyse the shape stability of plywoods. Following operations were monitored: storing the construction veneers, spreading the gluing mixtures, prepressing, pressing and the storage of plywoods.
