Effect of hydrostatic pressure on the ambient pressure superconductor CePt_3Si [PDF]

open access: yesPhysica B 359-361, 386 (2005), 2004
We studied the evolution of superconductivity (sc) and antiferromagnetism (afm) in the heavy fermion compound CePt_3Si with hydrostatic pressure. We present a pressure-temperature phase diagram established by electrical transport measurements. Pressure shifts the superconducting transition temperature, T_c, to lower temperatures.

New high-pressure phase and equation of state of Ce2Zr2O8 [PDF]

open access: yesJOURNAL OF APPLIED PHYSICS 111, 053519 (2012), 2012
In this paper we report a new high-pressure rhombohedral phase of Ce2Zr2O8 observed from high-pressure angle-dispersive x-ray diffraction and Raman spectroscopy studies up to nearly 12 GPa. The ambient-pressure cubic phase of Ce2Zr2O8 transforms to a rhombohedral structure beyond 5 GPa with a feeble distortion in the lattice. Pressure evolution of unit-

Research on Energy Conversion in the Arc-Extinguishing Process of a Long-Gap Gas Lightning-Protection Device

open access: yesEnergies, 2022
In this paper, a two-dimensional axisymmetric module of gas arc extinguishing was simulated using energy balance theories. We used simulation to study the energy distribution change during the gas arc-extinguishing process.

Role of dislocations in nitride laser diodes with different indium content

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
In this work we investigate the role of threading dislocations in nitride light emitters with different indium composition. We compare the properties of laser diodes grown on the low defect density GaN substrate with their counterparts grown on sapphire ...

Characterization of Astaxanthin Nanoemulsions Produced by Intense Fluid Shear through a Self-Throttling Nanometer Range Annular Orifice Valve-Based High-Pressure Homogenizer

open access: yesMolecules, 2021
Stable, oil-in-water nanoemulsions containing astaxanthin (AsX) were produced by intense fluid shear forces resulting from pumping a coarse reagent emulsion through a self-throttling annular gap valve at 300 MPa.

Global epidemiology, health burden and effective interventions for elevated blood pressure and hypertension

open access: yesNature Reviews Cardiology, 2021
High blood pressure is one of the most important risk factors for ischaemic heart disease, stroke, other cardiovascular diseases, chronic kidney disease and dementia.

Plasmons in AlGaN/GaN grating-gate structure probing with 300 K background illumination

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2023
We show that terahertz plasmons in AlGaN/GaN grating-gate structures efficiently modulate the reflection of room temperature thermal radiation, leading to spectra that are in agreement with the measurements of plasmon absorption using high-power external

Bidirectional light-emitting diode as a visible light source driven by alternating current

open access: yesNature Communications, 2023
Gallium nitride-based light-emitting diodes have revolutionized the lighting market by becoming the most energy-efficient light sources. However, the power grid, in example electricity delivery system, is built based on alternating current, which raises ...

Tunability of the spin reorientation transitions with pressure in NdCo5 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
We present pressure-dependent magnetization measurements carried out in the domain of the spin reorientation transitions (SRTs) of a NdCo5 single crystal. The application of a hydrostatic pressure leads to a shift in the SRTs to higher temperatures. This

The impact of point defects in n-type GaN layers on thermal decomposition of InGaN/GaN QWs

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
The aim of this paper is to give an experimental evidence that point defects (most probably gallium vacancies) induce decomposition of InGaN quantum wells (QWs) at high temperatures.
