A Soundproof Pressure Chamber

Acta Oto-Laryngologica, 1994
For neurotological research we designed a soundproof pressure chamber in which pressure can be adjusted +/- 1000 mmH2O at the rate of less than 100 mmH2O per second. Noise in the chamber can be maintained under 30-35 dB while pressure is kept at a given level.

High-pressure chamber measurements

Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part J: Journal of Engineering Tribology, 2006
Results from the design of a high-pressure chamber and its components, recently developed at the Lund Institute of Technology, are presented. The results show that at high pressures, when the lubricants have solidified, the density varies linearly with the pressure and the shear strength also increases nearly linearly with pressure.

Pressure Chamber Tympanometry in Diving Candidates

Annals of Otology, Rhinology & Laryngology, 1991
The currently recommended examination for diving fitness ascertains middle ear autoinflation ability only under surface pressure conditions. The purpose of our study was to document and quantify middle ear pressure equalization failure during simulated dives among diving candidates who had otherwise met the otologic criteria for diving fitness.

Current Status of Pressure Chamber Treatment

Otolaryngologic Clinics of North America, 1980
Forty-five patients with unilateral and one patient with bilateral Meniere's disease were exposed to underpressure in a pressure chamber during an acute attack that was primary in 24 and recurrent in 23. The patients were instructed to avoid active equilibration during reduction of the pressure, in order to induce an overpressure in the middle ear ...

Pressure Regulating Ear Plug Testing in a Pressure Chamber

Aviation, Space, and Environmental Medicine, 2010
Middle ear barotrauma is a condition frequently associated with flying. It is usually caused by Eustachian tube (ET) dysfunction. Pressure-regulating earplugs (PREP) should improve complaints due to pressure equalization problems. There were 21 patients with a history of pressure equalization problems while flying who were examined.
