Journal of Vacuum Science and Technology, 1972A partial pressure gauge has been developed in which the interaction between the hot filament and the residual gases is virtually eliminated by placing the filament in an auxiliary vacuum chamber pumped separately. Low-pressure helium spark chambers
Nuclear Instruments and Methods, 1968Abstract A spark chamber filled with a mixture of helium and alcohol vapour was exposed to 5.3-MeV α particles and 0.5-MeV β particles. The lowest pressure at which one can obtain defined sparks, was very dependent on gap size and alcohol concentration. With a gap of 1.6 cm and an alcohol concentration of 20% this pressure was 30 Torr.

An expansion cloud chamber has been developed which operates at a pressure before the expansion of about 45 millimeters of mercury. Since evaporation is rapid and the temperature very low during the sensitive time of the chamber, the density of the gas is higher after the expansion than before.

A high-pressure ionization chamber
Journal of Physics E: Scientific Instruments, 1977An ionization chamber has been constructed which enables electrode separations up to 100 mm and gas number densities up to 252*1024 m-3 to be employed. The initial photoelectric current was produced by back illumination of a thin metallic film evaporated on to a quartz disc inserted into the cathode.

Negative Pressure Isopentane Bubble Chamber
Review of Scientific Instruments, 1956A negative pressure bubble chamber utilizing isopentane for the sensitive fluid is described. The chamber is of all glass construction which gives it a comparatively long sensitive time and allows the use of 90° stereophotography with consequent advantages in the speed and accuracy of analysis.
