Therapeutic strategies for MMAE‐resistant bladder cancer through DPP4 inhibition

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We established monomethyl auristatin E (MMAE)‐resistant bladder cancer (BC) cell lines by exposure to progressively increasing concentrations of MMAE in vitro. RNA sequencing showed DPP4 expression was increased in MMAE‐resistant BC cells. Both si‐DPP4 and the DPP4 inhibitor sitagliptin suppressed the viability of MMAE‐resistant BC cells.

Investigation into the impact of integral suppressor configurations on the pressure levels within the suppressor [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
This paper reports on an experimental investigation supported by basic modeling in to the performance of an integral suppressor on a low power firearm. A model was developed to determine the pressure within a suppressor chamber using iterative empirical ...

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Low-pressure fabric hyperbaric chambers

open access: yesSouth African Medical Journal, 2019
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is defined as an intervention in which an individual breathes near 100% oxygen while wholly enclosed inside a hyperbaric chamber at a pressure ≥1.4 atmosphere absolute (ATA). The Southern African Underwater and Hyperbaric Medical Association (SAUHMA)-approved indications commence at pressures ≥2 ATA.

Pressure Acquisition System for In Vitro Mitral Valve Analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
In vitro testing of the mitral valve chordae tendineae is utilized to aid in the understanding of the stresses that occur in vivo and improve upon surgical solutions that exist for mitral valve repair.

RIPK4 function interferes with melanoma cell adhesion and metastasis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RIPK4 promotes melanoma growth and spread. RIPK4 levels increase as skin lesions progress to melanoma. CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated deletion of RIPK4 causes melanoma cells to form less compact spheroids, reduces their migratory and invasive abilities and limits tumour growth and dissemination in mouse models.

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

Simulation study of influence of the outlet elastic baffle on pressure in arc chamber during the interrupting process of low-voltage circuit breaker

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2021
In this paper, a bidirectional fluid–solid interaction method is established to investigate the influence of the outlet elastic baffle on the pressure in the arc chamber in the breaking process of a low-voltage circuit breaker. Based on the computational
