Aircraft auxiliary power unit (APU) compressors experience a wide range of total pressure and swirl distortion levels as a result of the APU inlet geometry and different flight conditions and wind directions. Compressors are designed to operate with certain levels of distortion while avoiding surge and stall and maintaining acceptable stress levels ...

Effect of chest wall distortion on occlusion pressure and the preterm diaphragm
Journal of Applied Physiology, 1983We studied the effect of chest wall distortion (CWD) on transdiaphragmatic pressure (Pdi) and/or mouth pressure during end-expiratory airway occlusions in seven preterm infants. We measured mouth occlusion pressure (Pmo) with a face mask and pressure transducer, gastric pressure (Pga) with a fluid-filled catheter, diaphragmatic electromyogram (Edi ...

Electronic compensator for pressure waveform distortion by fluid-filled catheters
Medical & Biological Engineering, 1976A system for online compensation and differentiation of blood-pressure pulse waves was developed which compensates for pressure-waveform distortion due to transmission, in fluid-filled catheters and provides outputs of pressure P, $$\dot P$$ , P/

Distortion product otoacoustic emissions upon ear canal pressurization
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2013The purpose of this study was to quantify the change in distortion product otoacoustic emission (DPOAE) level upon ear canal pressurization. DPOAEs were measured on 12 normal-hearing human subjects for ear canal static pressures between −200 and +200 daPa in (50 ± 5) daPa steps.

Pressure-based Coupled Simulation of Pressure Recovery and Distortion in an S-Duct
49th AIAA/ASME/SAE/ASEE Joint Propulsion Conference, 2013The problem of a compressible flow through an S-shaped compact offset intake diffuser is studied computationally using the general purpose CFD code ANSYS Fluent. Steady-state converged solutions are calculated using second-order upwind discretizations. A hierarchy of four computational meshes, one unstructured and three block-structured, is applied to ...

UNSTEADY PRESSURE MEASUREMENT WITH CORRECTION ON TUBING DISTORTION
2006A method of correcting distortion in measured unsteady pressures using a tubing system and off-board pressure transducers is described. This technique involves the frequency domain correction using the known tubing transfer function and not only corrects the amplitude distortion, but also eliminates the phase shift.

Nonlinear Distortion Analysis of Pressure Condenser Microphone
1999The paper describes the influence of a stray capacitance and a membrane elastic deflection to nonlinear distortions of a pressure condenser microphone. In both cases the nonlinear function for microphone sensitivity is derived. The level of THD for a typical measuring microphone is estimated numerically.
