Foot Pressure Comparison Between Hallux Rigidus Patients and Normal Asymptomatic Matched Individuals Using Pedobarograph

open access: yesJournal of Orthopaedics, Trauma and Rehabilitation, 2012
Background/Purpose: We present a study comparing the plantar pressures of hallux rigidus patients with that of asymptomatic feet. The aim was to find new means that could be used in further assessment and management of this condition.

Forecasting the Dialysis Burden in Japan: Validation‐Based Projections of Prevalence and Incidence Through 2050

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Japan has one of the highest dialysis prevalence rates worldwide and a shrinking, aging population. Whether dialysis burden has entered a sustained post‐peak phase or whether recent declines partly reflect pandemic‐related disruptions remains uncertain.

An Experimental Study of the Unsteady Aerodynamics of a Static DU91‐W2‐150 Airfoil at Large Angles of Attack

open access: yesWind Energy
The airfoil DU91‐W2‐150 was investigated in the Low Speed Low Turbulence Tunnel at the Delft University of Technology to study unsteady aerodynamics. This experimental study tested the airfoil under a wide range of angles of attack (AoA) from 0° to 310 ...

Comparison of carbon dioxide determination measured by different methods.

open access: yesKvasný průmysl, 2013
The carbon dioxide content in beer is of great importance in terms of its sensory properties and its measurements provide an important criterion for assessing the quality of beer.

Measurement and Analysis of Shock Wave Pressure in Moving Charge and Stationary Charge Explosions

open access: yesSensors, 2022
Shock wave pressure is one of the most important parameters in an explosion. However, there have been few experimental and analytical investigations of moving charge explosions. In this article, we present an experimental method to measure the shock wave

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Temporally and Spatially Resolved Reflected Overpressure Measurements in the Extreme Near Field

open access: yesSensors, 2023
The design of blast-resistant structures and protective systems requires a firm understanding of the loadings imparted to structures by blast waves. While empirical methods can reliably predict these loadings in the far field, there is currently a lack ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

A Study of the Lubrication under Impact Loading - Experimental and Analytical Application to Push Belt CVTs

open access: yesTribology Online, 2019
This study investigated oil film in contact portions formed by the dynamic loading of a push belt and pulley sheaves for automobile CVTs. Technical difficulties of direct oil film measurement came from the structure and movement of components in variator.
