Sealing Performance Analysis of an End Fitting for Marine Unbonded Flexible Pipes Based on Hydraulic-Thermal Finite Element Modeling

open access: yesEnergies, 2019
End fittings are essential components in marine flexible pipe systems, performing the two main functions of connecting and sealing. To investigate the sealing principle and the influence of the temperature on the sealing performance, a hydraulic-thermal ...

Influence of Pressure on the Radial and Tangential Penetration of Adhesive Resin into Poplar Wood and on the Shear Strength of Adhesive Joints

open access: yesBioResources, 2016
This work deals with the influence of specific pressure during the press process on the radial and tangential penetration of urea-formaldehyde (UF) adhesive into poplar, as well as on the shear strength of lap joints prepared at these different pressures.

Solid-Fluid Coupled Numerical Analysis of Suction Caisson Installation in Sand

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2021
Suction caissons are widely used foundations in offshore engineering. The change in excess pore pressure and seepage field caused by penetration and suction significantly affects the soil resistance around the caisson wall and tip, and also affects the ...

Pressure-Enhanced Penetration with Shaped-Charge Perforators [PDF]

open access: yesSPE Eastern Regional Meeting, 1998
Abstract Computational analysis demonstrates that the penetration of a shaped charge jet can be enhanced by at least 25% by imploding the liner in a high pressure light gas atmosphere. The gas pressure helps confine the jet on the axis of penetration in the latter stages of formation.

Pore pressures induced by piezocone penetration [PDF]

open access: yesCanadian Geotechnical Journal, 2016
The excess pore-water pressures (u) induced by piezocone penetration and their dissipation around the cone have been investigated by laboratory model tests and theoretical–numerical analyses. Based on the test results, a method for predicting cone penetration–induced distribution of u has been proposed.
