Pc5 Magnetic Pulsations during the Outer Electron Radiation Belt

open access: yesInternational Journal of Technology, 2014
Since the discovery of the radiation belt decades ago, there still remain some fundamental questions as to which one is the mechanism responsible for the acceleration of electrons. Ground-based Pc5 magnetic pulsation during the process of increasing of 2-

Variations in the cerebrospinal fluid dynamics of the American alligator (Alligator mississippiensis)

open access: yesFluids and Barriers of the CNS, 2021
Background Studies of mammalian CSF dynamics have been focused on three things: paravascular flow, pressure and pulsatility, and “bulk” flow; and three (respective) potential motive forces have been identified: vasomotor, cardiac, and ventilatory.

Dynamic Instability Analysis of a Double-Blade Centrifugal Pump

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2021
The flow instability of a double-blade centrifugal pump is more serious due to its special design feature with two blades and large flow passages. The dynamic instabilities and pressure pulsations can affect the pump performance and operating lifetime ...

Non-detection of a pulsar-powered nebula in Puppis A, and implications for the nature of the radio-quiet neutron star RX J0822-4300 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
We report on a deep radio search for a pulsar wind nebula associated with the radio-quiet neutron star RX J0822-4300 in the supernova remnant Puppis A. The well-determined properties of Puppis A allow us to constrain the size of any nebula to less than ...

Suppression of Squeal Noise Excited by the Pressure Pulsation from the Flapper-Nozzle Valve inside a Hydraulic Energy System

open access: yesEnergies, 2018
Squeal noise often occurs in a two-stage electrohydraulic servo-valve, which is an unfavorable issue of modern hydraulic energy systems. The root causes of such noise from the servo-valve are still unclear.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Distribution Features of Flow Patterns and Pressure Pulsations of Pump-Turbine in Five Operating Modes on the Four-Quadrant Plane

open access: yesFrontiers in Energy Research, 2022
To meet the demand of the power grid for flexible regulation, pump turbines have to frequently and fleetly stop, start, and transition between different modes, causing many instability problems.

A synthetic benzoxazine dimer derivative targets c‐Myc to inhibit colorectal cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Benzoxazine dimer derivatives bind to the bHLH‐LZ region of c‐Myc, disrupting c‐Myc/MAX complexes, which are evaluated from SAR analysis. This increases ubiquitination and reduces cellular c‐Myc. Impairing DNA repair mechanisms is shown through proteomic analysis.

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.
