Reducing pressure valve with real gases: an integrated approach for the design [PDF]

open access: yesEnergy Procedia, 2018
Abstract In the pursuit of an increasing cleaner fuel, methane represents a widely-employed solution for vehicles. The lower emissions, if compared to gasoline or diesel fuel, makes it an attractive opportunity in tackling transport-related pollution.

A Modular Liver–Microbial Microfluidic Platform to Evaluate Therapeutic and Adverse Effects of Microbial Metabolites

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces a modular microfluidic platform that connects liver cells with live microbes to mimic key aspects of the gut–liver interaction in steatosis. Using this system, both microbial metabolites and live bacteria significantly reduced fat accumulation in liver cells, but live microbes triggered inflammation and broader metabolic changes ...

Research on Valve Optimization and Control Technology for Water Hammer Protection in Long-Distance Pressurized Water Conveyance Systems [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences
In long-distance water transfer projects, changes in operating conditions or accidental power failures can cause changes in the flow regime inside the pipeline, triggering water hammer phenomena.

Bioprinting High‐Cell‐Density Cardiac Tissue Constructs With Sustained Contractile Function

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Contractile cardiomyocytes in 3D culture provide insights into the behavior of the heart. Combining a 3D bioprinting approach with a multi‐electrode array allows the development of the 3D culture to be monitored over time, and matured cultures allow the effect of drugs on cardiac function to be modelled, replicating effects seen in clinical application.

Use of UHPH to Obtain Juices With Better Nutritional Quality and Healthier Wines With Low Levels of SO2

open access: yesFrontiers in Nutrition, 2020
Ultra-high pressure homogenization (UHPH) is a high pressure technique in which a fluid is pressurized by pumping at higher than 200 MPa and instantaneously depressurized at atmospheric pressure across a special valve.

Mixed‐Metal Promotion in a Manganese‐Molybdenum Oxynitride as Catalyst to Integrate C─C and C─N Coupling Reactions for the Direct Synthesis of Acetonitrile from Syngas and Ammonia

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Transition metal oxy/carbo‐nitrides show great promise as catalysts for sustainable processes. A Mn‐Mo mixed‐metal oxynitride attains remarkable performance for the direct synthesis of acetonitrile, an important commodity chemical, via sequential C─N and C─C coupling from syngas (C1) and ammonia (N1) feedstocks.

Bacteria‐Responsive Nanostructured Drug Delivery Systems for Targeted Antimicrobial Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Bacteria‐responsive nanocarriers are designed to release antimicrobials only in the presence of infection‐specific cues. This selective activation ensures drug release precisely at the site of infection, avoiding premature or indiscriminate release, and enhancing efficacy.

Analysis of structural parameters affecting performance of aviation priority valves

open access: yesHangkong gongcheng jinzhan
The aviation priority valve is widely used in aircraft hydraulic systems, which can ensure that the hydraulic pressure is preferentially supplied to critical flight control systems when a pressure drop occurs due to an increased flow demand at the load ...
