Microstructure Evolution of a VMnFeCoNi High‐Entropy Alloy After Synthesis, Swaging, and Annealing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The synthesis and processing (rotary swaging and annealing) of the novel VMnFeCoNi alloy is investigated, alongside the estimation of the grain size effect on hardness. Analysis of a wide grain size range of recrystallized microstructures (12–210 µm) reveals a low annealing twin density.

Fatigue Crack Initiation and Growth in Nanocrystalline Ni at Multiple Length‐Scales

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Overview of miniaturized in situ SEM fatigue setup and resultant fatigue crack growth data for nanocrystalline Ni. The presented study focuses on the analysis of fatigue crack growth rate (FCGR) in focused ion beam‐notched microcantilevers prepared from nanocrystalline (NC) Ni as a model material.

Rippled shock propagation in a laser-driven target at multimegabar pressures

open access: yesJournal of Applied Physics
The evolution of non-uniform shocks produced by modulated laser irradiation or surface perturbations is relevant to studies of inertial confinement fusion and material properties at high-energy-density conditions. We present results from an experiment conducted at the OMEGA EP laser facility, where a 300 GPa shock was driven into a fused silica sample ...

Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.

Modular Critical Element Recycling Platform Using a Nanoporous Additively Manufactured Gyroid

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A modular recycling platform integrates 3D‐printed nanoporous gyroid structures to enable efficient critical element recovery. This system utilizes a hierarchical architecture, combining macroscopic channels with polymerization‐induced nanoscale porosity. By systematically tuning structural wall thickness and resin formulation, the platform achieves an

Pore pressure in a wind‐swept rippled bed below the suspension threshold

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Earth Surface, 2014
Toward elucidating how a wavy porous sand bed perturbs a turbulent flow above its surface, we record pressure within a permeable material resembling the region just below desert ripples, contrasting these delicate measurements with earlier studies on similar impermeable surfaces.

Ontology‐Aligned Structuring and Reuse of Multimodal Materials Data and Workflows Toward Automatic Reproduction

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Reproduction of stacking fault energy calculations from literature with a semi‐automated large language model‐assisted extraction procedure: extraction of simulation protocol, atomistic structures, computational parameters, and reported results, ontology alignment, knowledge graph construction and, finally, recomputation forvalidation.

A New Angular Light Scattering Measurement of Particulate Matter Mass Concentration for Homogeneous Spherical Particles

open access: yesSensors, 2019
Under the condition of ultra-low emission for power plants, the particulate matter concentration is significantly lower than that of typical power plants a decade ago, which posed new challenges for the particulate matter monitoring of stationary ...
