On the Role of Linker Fluorination in the Adsorption‐Induced Structural Response of CeIV‐Based Metal‐Organic Frameworks

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
The effect of the degree of fluorination of the organic linker on the adsorption behavior of MIL‐140A(Ce) is systematically investigated with a combination of experimental techniques. Cooperative adsorption is switched off in less fluorinated frameworks, as a result of reduced steric hindrance around the adsorption sites.

In Situ Methanation on Mars: A Process Concept Study on the Impact of H2/CO2 and Recycle Ratio

open access: yesChemie Ingenieur Technik, EarlyView.
The rocket propellant methane can be produced on Mars by in situ resource utilization. The H2/CO2 ratio is decisive, and excess H2 is favored for providing sufficient propellant purity. The operation mode—with or without recycling of unreacted reactants—depends on the resource availability of the selected landing site. Abstract For return missions from

Pure and binary adsorption of CO2, H2, and N2 on activated carbon [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
A new developing field of application for pressure swing adsorption (PSA) processes is the capture of CO2 to mitigate climate change, especially the separation of CO2 and H2 in a pre-combustion context.

Integration of High‐p, Low‐T CO2 Electrolysis with Pressure Swing Adsorption Purification

open access: yesChemie Ingenieur Technik, EarlyView.
We evaluate a high‐p low‐T CO2 electrolysis (LTCE) cell with a pressure swing adsorption (PSA) to compare cascade vs. recycle operation. Although a cascade yields high CO selectivity but limited yield, a full recycle achieves near‐quantitative CO production, highlighting gas recycling as essential for LTCE/PSA systems.

Research Progress of Pressure Swing Adsorption CO2 Capture Technology and Case Analysis of Its Application in Petrochemical Industry

open access: yes南方能源建设
[Introduction] As an important carbon capture method in CCUS, pressure swing adsorption (PSA) CO2 capture technology has been widely used. However, the excessive capture energy consumption and operation cost restrict the promotion and implementation of ...

Potential Analysis of On‐Site Oxygen and Ozone Production for Wastewater Treatment Plants

open access: yesChemie Ingenieur Technik, EarlyView.
The potential of a power‐to‐gas process focusing on the oxygen stream to cover an upcoming demand of ozone at German wastewater treatment plants is analyzed. Economic and ecological parameters are compared to the conventional production of hydrogen and oxygen. Powered by on‐site produced wind energy, the process is deemed beneficial.

Optimal model‐based design of experiments for parameter precision: Supercritical extraction case

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
Abstract This study investigates the process of chamomile oil extraction from flowers. A parameter‐distributed model consisting of a set of partial differential equations is used to describe the governing mass transfer phenomena in a cylindrical packed bed with solid chamomile particles under supercritical conditions using carbon dioxide as a solvent ...

Revisiting the synthesis of dimethyl carbonate from methanol and carbon dioxide

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
Abstract The process for producing dimethyl carbonate (DMC) from carbon dioxide (CO2) and methanol is explored in this article. It provides an overview of the thermodynamics involved in DMC synthesis, discussing the challenges and potential solutions. The article highlights the reported use of catalysts and dehydrating agents to improve DMC yield and ...
