The Role of Calcitonin Gene‐Related Peptide in High‐Altitude Headache: A Prospective Field Study

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective High‐altitude headache (HAH) is a common neurological condition associated with rapid ascent to high altitude. The pathophysiological mechanisms underlying HAH remain incompletely understood. Calcitonin gene‐related peptide (CGRP), a neuropeptide implicated in migraine pathophysiology, may play a key role in the pathophysiology of ...

Effect of propagation of a reflected shock wave on a pressure field when a detonation wave reflects on an end wall of a tube with opened or closed ignition end

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2017
A detonation wave propagating in a straight tube (detonation tube) was reflected off the end wall of the tube, and the pressure profile produced by the propagation of the reflected shock wave was experimentally investigated.

Added Prognostic Value of EEG Reactivity in Comatose Patients Following Cardiac Arrest

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives To evaluate the added prognostic value of EEG reactivity for favorable outcome compared with background analysis during and after targeted temperature management (TTM). Methods Prospective observational cohort study of comatose post–cardiac arrest patients admitted to a single academic center between 2017 and 2022, all undergoing ...

Early Clinical, Imaging, and Pathological Characteristics of SRPK3/TTN‐Digenic Myopathy

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective SRPK3/TTN‐digenic myopathy was recently established as a skeletal muscle myopathy caused by digenic inheritance. This study characterizes the early clinical presentation of SRPK3/TTN‐digenic myopathy in one previously reported and seven newly identified pediatric patients.

A Homogeneous Capillary Tube Model - Comprehensive Parameter Studies Using Isobutane As Refrigerant

open access: yes, 2012
In this work a homogenous capillary tube model using R600a (isobutane) as refrigerant is presented. The capillary tube model underlies common restrictions; it is assumed to be adiabatic, straight with constant cross section and operates under steady ...

Hot gas bulging of sealed aluminium alloy tube using resistance heating

open access: yesManufacturing Review, 2014
A hot gas bulging process of a sealed aluminium alloy tube using resistance heating was developed to simplify a control scheme in gas forming. The tube is bulged by the decrease in flow stress of the tube and the increase in internal pressure of ...

Recurrent Hypothermia and Autonomic Dysfunction Secondary to Shapiro Syndrome

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT A 44‐year‐old man presented with recurrent hypothermia, diaphoresis and hypertension. Extensive investigation for infectious, inflammatory, metabolic and endocrine aetiologies was negative. MR scan of the brain demonstrated no lesions but revealed callosal dysgenesis, consistent with Shapiro syndrome.

Optimization of Peripheral Finned-Tube Evaporators Using Entropy Generation Minimization

open access: yes, 2012
The peripheral finned-tube (PFT) is a new geometry for enhanced air-side heat transfer under moisture condensate blockage (evaporators). It consists of individual hexagonal (peripheral) fin arrangements with radial fins whose bases are attached to the ...

A method for evaluating the mechanical performance of thin-walled titanium tubes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
A method which was developed to compare the stress-strain properties of three types of thin-walled, commercially pure titanium tubes is presented. The tubes were of types intended for use in large heat-exchanger applications and were to be subjected to ...

Theoretical and practical application of single tube seismic method for pile integrity testing

open access: yesYantu gongcheng xuebao
In recent years, single tube seismic method has been proposed to assess pile integrity by analyzing the water pressure response at different depths within the tube under vertical excitation.
