Comparing alternating pressure mattresses and high-specification foam mattresses to prevent pressure ulcers in high-risk patients: the PRESSURE 2 RCT [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Background: Pressure ulcers (PUs) are a burden to patients, carers and health-care providers. Specialist mattresses minimise the intensity and duration of pressure on vulnerable skin sites in at-risk patients. Primary objective: Time to developing a

Rapid Glass‐Substrate Digital Light 3D Printing Enables Anatomically Accurate Stroke Patient‐Specific Carotid Artery‐on‐Chips for Personalized Thrombosis Investigation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A rapid glass‐substrate 3D microfabrication method creates anatomically accurate carotid artery‐on‐a‐chip models from stroke patient scans in 2 h. These miniaturized devices replicate patient‐specific blood vessel geometry and flow patterns, enabling real‐time imaging of clot formation under controlled injury.

Knowledge of Pressure Ulcer Management among Nurses

open access: yesJournal of Gandaki Medical College, 2017
Background: Pressure ulcer (PU) development remains a significant complication among at-risk patients. It is considered “never events” because they are preventable and should “never” happen.

Bacteria‐Responsive Nanostructured Drug Delivery Systems for Targeted Antimicrobial Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Bacteria‐responsive nanocarriers are designed to release antimicrobials only in the presence of infection‐specific cues. This selective activation ensures drug release precisely at the site of infection, avoiding premature or indiscriminate release, and enhancing efficacy.

4D Bioprinted Self‐Folding Scaffolds Enhance Cartilage Formation in the Engineering of Trachea

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, Volume 10, Issue 6, March 18, 2025.
A bilayer self‐folding scaffold, triggerable by humidity, is fabricated via 4D bioprinting for trachea engineering. An analytical model is derived to predict its radius of curvature, enabling its scalability. Cartilage progenitor cells seeded on the scaffold perceive scaffold final curvature and react to it, by enhancing the upregulation of pro ...
