Optimization of Flat Ends in Pressure Vessels [PDF]

open access: yesMaterials, 2019
The application of flat ends in pressure boilers is inevitably associated with the presence of stress concentration, which is observed in the vicinity of the junction of the cylinder and the closing flat plate. The analyzed flat end plates with stress relief grooves fall into the group of solutions recognized by the respective Standards of Calculations

Normal‐Appearing White Matter Injury Mediates Chronic Deep Venous Hypoxia and Disease Progression in Multiple Sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To explore how cerebral hypoxia and Normal‐Appearing White Matter (NAWM) integrity affect MS lesion burden and clinical course. Methods Seventy‐nine MS patients, including 13 clinically isolated syndrome (CIS) patients and 66 relapsing–remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS) patients, and 44 healthy controls (HCs) were recruited from ...

A Depolarizing Leak in Sodium Bicarbonate Cotransporter NBCe1 Causes Brain Edema

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives SLC4A4 encodes electrogenic sodium bicarbonate cotransporter NBCe1, prominently expressed in kidney and brain. Recessive loss‐of‐function variants in SLC4A4 cause proximal renal tubular acidosis, no brain edema. In the brain, NBCe1 is expressed by astrocytes, where it regulates pH and mediates astrocyte volume changes.

Numerical Study of Thermophoretic and Inertial Deposition of Aerosol Particles on a Heat Exchanger Tube Under Flue Gas Conditions

open access: yesScience and Technology of Nuclear Installations
Recovering low-grade waste heat from coal-fired flue gas is crucial for improving power plant efficiency and reducing emissions. However, substantial aerosol deposition on heat exchanger tubes undermines long-term system performance.

Pressure fluctuation measurement in pressure vessels

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Earth and Environmental Science, 2022
Abstract Pressure vessels are mechanical devices that act as a reservoir of fluids at pressure more or less than atmospheric pressure. This research focuses on the application of the pressure vessel for hydraulic testing of hydro turbines to maintain uniform velocity profile and to suppress the pressure surge in the pipeline.

Acute Kidney Injury After Mechanical Thrombectomy for Stroke in Patients With Pre‐Existing Renal Impairment

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a common but often underrecognized complication in ischemic stroke patients undergoing mechanical thrombectomy, particularly among those with pre‐existing renal impairment. This study evaluated the incidence, risk factors, and clinical impact of AKI in this high‐risk population.

White Matter Hyperintensity Burden and Short‐Interval Change Associated With Sleep Apnoea in the UK Biobank

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background and Purpose White matter hyperintensities (WMH) are a core neuroimaging marker of cerebral small vessel disease (CSVD). Sleep apnoea (SA) is a recognized vascular risk factor, but its associations with regional WMH burden, short‐interval WMH change and cognitive performance in population‐based cohorts remain incompletely defined. We

Optimization design of nickel-titanium shape memory alloy anti-loose gaskets based on ABAQUS numerical simulation

open access: yesMaterials Research Express
This paper addressed the issue of maintaining long-term stability under complex conditions with traditional anti-loose gaskets used in the power industry. It proposed a design for an anti-loose gasket, exploiting the super-elasticity, shape memory effect,
