Pressure wave transducing

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1998
An electroacoustical transducing system for exchanging pressure wave energy with a medium that propagates pressure waves includes an electroacoustical transducer having a vibratile surface. At least one low-loss pressure waveguide has one end adjacent to the vibratile surface and the other end adjacent to the medium.

Hydrocephalus shunts and waves of intracranial pressure

Medical & Biological Engineering & Computing, 2005
The majority of contemporary hydrocephalus valves are designed to introduce a low resistance to flow into the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) drainage pathway, and an therefore intended to stabilise intracranial pressure (ICP) at a level close to the shunt's operating pressure. However, this goal cannot always be attained.

PRESSURE WAVE VELOCITY IN THE HUMAN AORTA*

Journal of the American Geriatrics Society, 1968
A bstract After introduction of a catheter into the aorta, the pressure wave velocity was measured in 26 subjects whose ages ranged from 9 to 68 years. The first site of registration was approximately 10 cm from the aortic valve, and the second was 50 cm ...

Characteristics of the propagating pressure wave in the esophagus

Digestive Diseases and Sciences, 1996
Understanding the relationships of intraluminal manometric events to bolus transit through the esophagus has been limited by conventional manometric analysis methods. We reconstructed pressure events in the axial direction in order (1) to describe the peristaltic pressure wave as it propagates through the esophagus in the direction of the bolus and (2)

Propagation of Pressure Waves

2020
Gas and liquid are termed fluid because they can flow with changes to their shape. Most flows occurring in our daily life are not significantly influenced by compressibility. However, in high-speed flows and/or when velocity or pressure rapidly varies, compressibility is significant.

Bending waves and pressure waves in solid rods.

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2009
Dimensionally identical aluminum rods are excited by a hammer impulse. One rod is suspended by rubber bands at a distance of nearly 1/4 of the length of the rod near the rod’s ends. The rod is excited near the end in a direction perpendicular to the rod axis. The other rod is supported by a clamp at the middle of the rod.

Online Analysis of Intracranial Pressure Waves

2002
Brain pressure waves, particularly B-waves, as they were described by Lundberg contain valuable diagnostic information about the patient's status. So far, this information cannot be used on a daily routine basis because manual analysis of the recorded ICP data is very time consuming.
