Digital Nonlinear Control for a Pressurizer in a Pressurized Water Reactor

Volume 5: Fuel Cycle, Radioactive Waste Management and Decommissioning; Reactor Physics and Transport Theory; Nuclear Education, Public Acceptance and Related Issues; Instrumentation and Controls; Fusion Engineering, 2013
Studying criteria ensuring better implementations of control laws and logics on digital programmable devices is today a crucial point in order to improve performance and safety in nuclear plants of novel design. To this aim, a mathematical model of a PWR is considered, describing the dynamics of the primary circuit. This model is simple enough to allow

Automatic Reactor Power Control for a Pressurized Water Reactor

Nuclear Technology, 1993
An automatic reactor power control system is presented for a pressurized water reactor (PWR). The associated reactor control strategy is called mode K.' The new system implements a heavy-worth bank dedicated to axial shape control, independent of the existing regulating banks.

Stress and Fracture Mechanics Analyses of Boiling Water Reactor and Pressurized Water Reactor Pressure Vessel Nozzles

Volume 1: Codes and Standards, 2011
This paper describes stress analysis and fracture mechanics work performed to assess boiling water reactor (BWR) and pressurized water reactor (PWR) nozzles located in the reactor pressure vessel (RPV) adjacent to the core beltline region. Various RPV nozzle geometries were investigated: 1. BWR recirculation outlet nozzle; 2.

Supercritical-Pressure Water Nuclear Reactors

Atomic Energy, 2004
The concepts concerning a nuclear reactor cooled by water at supercritical pressure (25 MPa) are presented. The system has one loop. Superheating the coolant to 530°C makes it possible to obtain ~44% efficiency. On the basis of the neutron spectrum, the reactor is a fast resonance reactor.

Dynamic analysis of a pressurized water reactor

Annals of Nuclear Energy, 1976
Abstract An apparent malfunction in a pressurized water reactor system has been investigated using fluctuation analysis. Both frequency-domain and time-domain analyses have been used and the results obtained by the two methods have been compared. The recording was performed by a relatively simple, cheap system giving high recording precision and the ...
