The effects of in-plane prestrain on the anti-pressure and anti-wear performance of monolayer MoS2 have been investigated by molecular dynamics simulation. The results show that monolayer MoS2 observably improves the load bearing capacity of Pt substrate.

Effect of prestrain and strain path on Retained Austenite transformation and eventual fracture behavior of Q&P steels [PDF]
Post-forming fracture behavior of Quenched & Partitioned (Q&P) steel grades can be compromised because of reduction of available Retained Austenite (RA) and formation of fresh martensite during stamping.

Characterization of Viscoelastic Properties Considering the Nonrelaxation for Filled Rubber
The influence of nonrelaxation on the Payne effect of carbon black-filled rubber is studied. The prestrain is introduced in the Kraus model in the form of exponential growth.

Temperature-Dependent Hydrogen Embrittlement of Austenitic Stainless Steel on Phase Transformation
A critical issue that needs to be addressed for wider utilization of hydrogen as fuel is protection against hydrogen embrittlement during cryogenic storage as it weakens the microstructure bonding force of metals through hydrogen penetration.

Relative bending energy for weakly prestrained shells
In this paper, we derive a dimensionally reduced model for a thin film prestrained with a given incompatible Riemannian metric: $$G^h(x',x_3)=I_3+2h^γ\,S(x')+2h^{γ/2}\,x_3B(x')+h.o.t, \,\,\,γ>2,$$ where ...

Effect of prestrain on the microstructure and corrosion resistance of 840 nickel-based alloy
The microstructure, grain size, dislocation density, and crystal texture of a material vary owing to prestraining due to external forces. These changes directly affect the corrosion behavior of the material, thereby affecting the structural integrity and

Collagen pre-strain discontinuity at the bone-Cartilage interface.
The bone-cartilage unit (BCU) is a universal feature in diarthrodial joints, which is mechanically-graded and subjected to shear and compressive strains. Changes in the BCU have been linked to osteoarthritis (OA) progression.
