Evolution of Carbides during Prestrain and Tempering
Materials Science Forum, 2021The effect of thermo-mechanical treatment on the microstructural evolution of low carbon micro-alloyed high strength steel was studied by combining prestrain with tempering (PST) in this paper. It was found that the prestrain causes the dislocation to plug up around the grain boundary and carbide, resulting in carbide boundary fragmentation.

Directional effects of prestrain in steel
Journal of Strain Analysis, 1971Tension and compression tests were made on specimens cut from a steel plate which had been prestrained by 1·3 per cent, the specimens being at various angles to the prestraining axis. The Bauschinger effect was evident and a similar effect existed to a lesser degree for specimens with axes perpendicular to the straining direction ...

Plastic Instability of Prestrained Materials
1987Summary The prediction of plastic instability of prestrained materials has often been based on damage and its evolution with strain history. It has been shown that the results, such as they appear on forming limit diagrams for instance, are Very sensitive to the models of plastic behavior that are considered. A knowledge of microstructural evolutions

Dynamic Prestraining of Dry Sand
Journal of the Soil Mechanics and Foundations Division, 1970Dynamic prestraining is the application of vibratory shearing strains to soil that is acted upon by static confining pressure. Tests on hollow, cylindrical Ottawa sand specimens, in a torsional resonant column apparatus, demonstrate that material behavior may be significantly changed by prestraining. In general, prestraining at shearing strains between

Stress-relaxation studies on eutectic Sn-Ag solder (Sn-3.5Ag in wt.%) joints were carried out at various temperatures after imposing different amounts and rates of simple shear strain. Stress-relaxation parameters were evaluated by subjecting geometrically realistic solder joints with a nominal joint thickness of ∼100 µm and a 1 mm × 1 mm solder-joint ...

End Effects in Prestrained Plates Under Compression
Journal of Applied Mechanics, 2004The decay of end perturbations imposed on a rectangular plate subjected to compression is investigated in the context of plane-strain incremental finite elasticity. A separation of variables in the eigenfunction formulation is used for the perturbed field within the plate.

Dynamic deformation of shock prestrained copper
Materials Science and Engineering: A, 1991Abstract Measurements of yield stress and strain hardening behavior at strain rates in the range 10 −3 –10 4 s −1 are reported for copper that has been previously shock deformed at a shock pressure of 10 GPa. Characterization of the mechanical properties and microstructure, using transmission electron microscopy, showed that the hardening induced by

A strain-gradient theory for prestrained laminates
International Journal of Solids and Structures, 1973Abstract A simple strain-gradient theory is developed for prestrained laminated materials consisting of thin, stiff reinforcing sheets embedded between thick, soft layers of a matrix material. The theory is used to investigate three types of instability that may occur in massive bodies: global, edge and internal buckling. The predictions for internal

On the viscoelastic properties of prestrained rubber
ZAMP Zeitschrift fr angewandte Mathematik und Physik, 1983The material behaviour of rubber is investigated for a special type of deformations namely small amplitude vibrations superposed on finite static prestrain. By restricting the magnitude of the prestrain it is possible to derive a simplified constitutive equation which can be used to solve simple boundary value problems.
