Microstructure Characterization of Bending Effects in 304L Stainless Steel Cladded with Low‐Alloy Steel Weld

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
Prebending of 304L/Q345R cladded plates significantly alters the subsequent weld thermal cycle and modifies the local interfacial microstructure. Combined electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) and microscopy analysis demonstrates that deformation twinning, martensitic transformation, and defect initiation are concentrated at the trimaterial junction,

Experimental Evaluation of 100Cr6 Steel Microindented Surfaces Under Lubricated Nonconformal Point Contacts

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 28, Issue 13, 8 July 2026.
The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.

STUDY THE EFFECTS OF PRESTRAINS IN UNIAXIAL TENSION ON THE FORMING LIMIT DIAGRAM OF ALUMINUM ALLOY SHEETS(2024 T3)

open access: yesTikrit Journal of Engineering Sciences, 2015
The strain path for sheet metal may be changed during forming , this may be affect the forming limit curve (FLC) . In this work the FLC before and after prestraining was determined for aluminum alloy (2024 T3) to study the effect of this type ...

Fatigue Strength Analysis of a Cladded Steel Subjected to Tensile Predeformation

open access: yesFatigue &Fracture of Engineering Materials &Structures, Volume 49, Issue 7, Page 2767-2779, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Cladded steels are a subset of layered metal composites in which a thin functional layer is bonded to a dissimilar substrate, thereby integrating the benefits of both constituent materials. However, the resulting heterogeneous properties of such layered metal composites collectively complicate deformation and fatigue behavior, making reliable ...

Effect of prestrain on the microstructure and corrosion resistance of 840 nickel-based alloy

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology
The microstructure, grain size, dislocation density, and crystal texture of a material vary owing to prestraining due to external forces. These changes directly affect the corrosion behavior of the material, thereby affecting the structural integrity and

Effects of Compressive Prestrain on Fracture Toughness

open access: yesJournal of the Society of Naval Architects of Japan, 1986
It is known that when buckling accident occurs, the buckled part easily separates. In this connection, the deteriorating effects of extremely high compressive prestrain on ductility of mild steel were discussed in the present paper.30mm thick mild steel plates were compressed uniformaly to a few levels of prestrain up to -35%. After prestraining, 2mm V-

Effect of prestrain on the fatigue properties of Ti834 [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Fatigue, 2009
The effects of cold dwell on titanium alloys have been widely studied in recent years, with many alloys showing detrimental mechanical properties when dwell periods are introduced at peak load. Failures in such situations are often characterised by the formation of quasi-cleavage facets, and models have been suggested to explain the mechanism by which ...
