Capacity of Prestressed Concrete Containment Vessels with Prestressing Loss [PDF]
Reduced prestressing and degradation of prestressing tendons in concrete containment vessels were investigated using finite element analysis of a typical prestressed containment vessel. The containment was analyzed during a loss of coolant accident (LOCA) with varying levels of prestress loss and with reduced tendon area.

Macromolecule‐dependent increases in extracellular fluid viscosity alter cell phenotype. These distinct macromolecules create different extracellular environments that modulate cell morphology and mechanoprotein expression, migration and invasion capacity, and cellular mechanical properties.

The prestress loss of prefabricated continuous beam bridges directly affects their stress state and operating conditions. Excessive prestress loss can lead to increased mid span deflection of the main beam, cracking of the web and bottom plates, reduced ...

ABSTRACT This study investigates the seismic response of moment‐resisting frames retrofitted with a stepping rocking wall, with emphasis on weak‐story mitigation and residual drift reduction under both ordinary and pulse‐like ground motions. Nonlinear response‐history analyses are conducted on 9‐story and 20‐story SAC Los Angeles frames.

Actuation Strategies for Underwater Jet‐Propelled Soft Robots
ABSTRACT This review article examines jet‐propulsion mechanisms in underwater soft robotic systems, focusing exclusively on physically fabricated and experimentally validated robots. Covering research published from 2013 to 2025, this study classifies and evaluates jet‐propulsion robots based on their actuation mechanisms.

Snap-through behaviour of a bistable structure based on viscoelastically generated prestress
A novel form of shape-changing bistable structure has been successfully developed through the use of viscoelastically generated prestress. Bistability is achieved through pairs of deflecting viscoelastically prestressed polymeric matrix composite (VPPMC)

Molecular insights and translational opportunities to enhance heat tolerance in rice
Abstract Heat stress is an increasingly serious threat to rice (Oryza sativa L.) productivity, yet the genetic and regulatory architecture underlying thermotolerance remain poorly resolved and fragmented across studies. Earlier research focused on individual pathways or specific developmental stages; however, recent advances now support an integrated ...

Abstract Fault slip occurs in both seismic and aseismic styles with spatial variability across scales, yet non‐unique source inference limits our ability to resolve slip complexity and dynamics. Here we evaluate the effect of spatial smoothing regularization in Bayesian frameworks by comparing an unregularized (BUR) approach that samples distributed ...
