Prestressing with CFRP Tendons
High Performance Materials in Bridges, 2003Considerable corrosion of reinforced concrete members accelerated the research on non-metallic materials such as fiber reinforced polymers (FRP) for structural applications in non-corrosive reinforcement. This paper describes a comparative experimental study that was performed on prestressed concrete beams pretensioned with carbon-FRP or steel wires ...

Analysis of Continuous Beams Prestressed with Localized Tendons
Journal of Structural Engineering, 2000In this paper, the use of localized tendons to prestress statically indeterminate structures is examined. To determine the prestressing moments produced by localized tendons, the fixed-end moments should first be computed. Equations and charts are presented to show the effects on these moments of varying the geometric parameters that define the ...

Behaviour of Concrete Beams Prestressed by Unbonded Tendons
IABSE Symposium, Melbourne 2002: Towards a Better Built Environment - Innovation, Sustainability, Information Technology, 2002A model for the non-linear analysis of reinforced concrete beams, prestressed by external slipping cables, is presented. The numerical solution is obtained by the finite element method. Some applications to simply supported and continuous beams are performed to show the capability of the proposed method.

Transfer and Development Lengths of FRP Prestressing Tendons
PCI Journal, 2000An experimental investigation was conducted to determine the transfer length, development length and flexural behavior of fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) tendons in prestressed concrete beams. Three types of tendons were included in the study: carbon leadline, aramid technora, and a carbon fiber reference material.

Calculating stress of external prestressing tendons
Structures <html_ent glyph="@amp;" ascii="&"/> Buildings, 2004This paper presents a simple method to calculate the increase in stress of the external prestressing tendons used to strengthen the concrete beams at any loading. First, the previous equations used to calculate stress of unbonded or external prestressing tendons are briefly reviewed, and then a new design method is proposed by considering deformation ...

Beams prestressed with unbonded tendons at ultimate
Canadian Journal of Civil Engineering, 1996This paper presents a numerical investigation on beams and slabs prestressed with either unbonded internal or external tendons. Twenty-three experimental tests (beams and slabs prestressed with unbonded internal tendons) were numerically simulated to verify the reliability of the numerical algorithm adopted.

Testing of Large Curved Prestressing Tendons
Journal of the Power Division, 1971Previous testing had demonstrated that sufficient paths for grout flow were maintained in post-tensioned strand tendons regardless of the curvature and the resulting radial forces which packed the strands together. This conclusion was further confirmed by grouting two post-tensioned tendons of about 2,000 kips ultimate strength.

Improvement of Grout for Prestressed Tendons
2006Good corrosion protection of prestressed structures is essential for structural integrity and long-term durability. Grout is the last but most important corrosion protection layer in prestressed structures. With correct materials, good design and high-quality installation of grout it is possible to minimize the risk of corrosion.
