Impact of maternal body mass index above 30 kg/m2 on adverse pregnancy outcomes in women with and without gestational diabetes mellitus in southeastern Sweden

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, EarlyView.
Women with gestational diabetes (GDM) and obesity are at increased risk of preeclampsia, cesarean delivery, and large‐for‐gestational‐age infants. GDM shows a stronger influence than obesity alone. Lower gestational weight gain in GDM suggests more intensive care.

Vulvar and vaginal cancer during pregnancy: A pooled analysis of 15 cases from the International Network on Cancer, Infertility and Pregnancy and review of the literature

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, EarlyView.
Vulvovaginal cancer in pregnancy is rare. This pooled analysis of 15 INCIP cases and 83 cases from the literature highlights the underuse of nodal imaging, the value of multidisciplinary care, and shows that standard oncologic treatment can be safely adapted without compromising maternal or fetal outcomes.

Risk of preterm delivery in women with a history of preterm labor successfully arrested by tocolytic treatment in their previous pregnancy

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, EarlyView.
A history of preterm labor that was successfully managed and resulted in a term delivery should be carefully documented, as these women continue to have an elevated risk of preterm birth in subsequent pregnancies. Abstract Introduction We aimed to determine if women with a history of preterm labor successfully arrested by tocolytic treatment who gave ...

Stillbirth in Iceland 1996–2021: Incidence and etiology

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, EarlyView.
Over the study period, the stillbirth rate decreased due to reduction in preterm stillbirth, with fewer cases attributed to infection and placental abruption. Cord complications and placental insufficiency were the commonest causes, both increasing with gestational age. More stillbirths were attributed to placental insufficiency, reflecting the lack of

Predicting spontaneous preterm birth with cervical length and fetal fibronectin for symptomatic women of threatened preterm labor: A prospective study

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, EarlyView.
In women symptomatic of threatened preterm labor, a combination of fetal fibronectin and cervical length has improved the predictive performance of spontaneous preterm birth compared with either measure alone. The visual tool can be referenced for risk estimation and enables appropriate point‐of‐care management strategies for threatened preterm labor ...

Maternal and infant outcomes of planned mode of delivery in twin pregnancies: A systematic review and meta‐analysis

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, EarlyView.
In twin pregnancies, planned cesarean delivery offered marginal neonatal benefits but increased maternal surgical risks. With mortality and most outcomes comparable between approaches, decisions should be guided by individualized counseling rather than a single preferred mode of birth.
