Association of childhood‐ versus adult‐onset type 1 diabetes in pregnancy with maternal, neonatal, and glycemic control outcomes

open access: yesPregnancy, Volume 2, Issue 5, September 2026.
Abstract Introduction Type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) is associated with heightened risk of adverse pregnancy outcomes. Genetic, immune, cardiometabolic, and psychosocial differences exist between childhood‐ and adult‐onset T1DM, yet how these differences may influence pregnancy outcomes remains poorly understood.

Comparative value of growth velocity and umbilical artery Doppler for the prediction of adverse perinatal outcomes in growth‐restricted pregnancies

open access: yesPregnancy, Volume 2, Issue 5, September 2026.
Abstract Introduction Fetal growth restriction (FGR) is associated with an increased risk of neonatal morbidity and mortality. Current diagnostic criteria for FGR do not discriminate between constitutionally small and pathologically restricted fetuses.

Initiation or continuation of oral labetalol versus extended‐release nifedipine in expectant management of preeclampsia with severe features

open access: yesPregnancy, Volume 2, Issue 5, September 2026.
Abstract Introduction Preeclampsia with severe features remains a major contributor to maternal and neonatal morbidity. In select patients <34 weeks, expectant management may safely prolong pregnancy and improve neonatal outcomes. Oral labetalol and extended‐release nifedipine are commonly used for blood pressure control in this setting; however ...

Incidence and preventability of severe early pregnancy morbidity at a tertiary referral center

open access: yesPregnancy, Volume 2, Issue 5, September 2026.
Abstract Objectives To identify the incidence of severe early pregnancy morbidity (SEPM) by adapting severe maternal morbidity (SMM) definitions to pregnancies <24 weeks; secondarily, to assess preventability of these events using a validated tool Methods This is a retrospective cohort study of pregnant patients at a single tertiary care institution ...

Decoding neurodevelopment risks of exposures to intoxication, infection, and trauma during pregnancy

open access: yesPregnancy, Volume 2, Issue 5, September 2026.
Abstract The maternal environment plays a pivotal role in fetal neurodevelopment, but adverse conditions during pregnancy may disrupt key developmental processes. Conditions such as intoxication, infection, or trauma during pregnancy have been associated with impaired fetal oxygenation, altered immune signaling, and disrupted placental function, which ...

The uterine scar dilemma: Outcomes of a restricted elective repeat cesarean section policy in a high‐fertility, resource‐limited setting

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, Volume 105, Issue 9, Page 1717-1730, September 2026.
Women with one previous cesarean section and spontaneous labor had the most favorable outcomes in this high‐fertility, resource‐limited setting. Reducing unnecessary elective repeat cesarean section , together with careful decisions regarding primary cesarean section, is not only about lowering cesarean rates but about minimizing cumulative maternal ...

Home telemonitoring in high‐risk pregnancies: A Finnish retrospective cohort study

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, Volume 105, Issue 9, Page 1689-1697, September 2026.
This retrospective study suggests that home telemonitoring may provide an acceptable approach for managing selected high‐risk pregnancies. Safe and effective implementation requires careful patient selection and adherence to evidence‐based clinical protocols.

Induction of labor versus cesarean section after 36 + 0 weeks in twin pregnancy: A review of maternal and neonatal outcomes

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, Volume 105, Issue 9, Page 1742-1748, September 2026.
Women with a twin pregnancy who undergo induction of labor or elective cesarean section at term are comparable for blood loss but with higher admissions to the neonatal unit. Abstract Introduction Our aim was to assess maternal and perinatal morbidity associated with induction of labor (IOL) and elective cesarean section (ECS) in uncomplicated twin ...

Transmasculine pregnancy—Occurrence, associations, and outcomes: A quantitative systematic review

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, Volume 105, Issue 9, Page 1646-1661, September 2026.
This quantitative systematic review of 44 studies shows that a significant minority of transmasculine people become pregnant, including after transition. Miscarriage and postnatal depression rates appeared high, but there was minimal information on most other important outcomes, demonstrating that more research is needed.
