To Pretreat or Not to Pretreat

Anesthesia & Analgesia, 2015
Dexmedetomidine (Dex) appears to be very effective as a sole sedative for pediatric imaging when used at high doses, but at an increased risk of transient hypertension, hypotension, and bradycardia. There are no clinical evidence/guidelines to guide anesthesia providers as to whether patients should be pretreated with an anticholinergic.

Pretreatments of Fluoropolymers *

The Journal of Adhesion, 1994
Abstract In the present study the mechanisms and effectiveness of various pretreatments for fluoropolymers were studied. The pretreatments were “Tetra-Etch,” various plasmas, flame and potassium hydroxide. “Tetra-Etch” was found to be much more reactive than potassium hydroxide (KOH) towards fluoropolymers.

Biodegradation of carbofuran in pretreated and non-pretreated soils

Bulletin of Environmental Contamination and Toxicology, 1987
Carbofuran (2,2-dihydro-2,2-dimethyl-7-benzofuranylmethyl-carbamate) is a broad spectrum insecticide which is effective against soil insects in corn, rice, sugar cane, peanuts, cotton and pests on potatoes. Decreased effectiveness of insect control in soils treated with carbofuran was observed after soils had been treated for a number of years. Loss of

Lime pretreatment of switchgrass

Applied Biochemistry and Biotechnology, 1997
Lime (calcium hydroxide) was used as a pretreatment agent to enhance the enzymatic digestibility of switchgrass. After studying many conditions, the recommended pretreatment conditions are: time = 2 h, temperature = 100 degrees C and 120 degrees C, lime loading = 0.1 g Ca(OH)(2)/g dry biomass, water loading = 9 mL/g dry biomass.

Lime Pretreatment

2009
Lime pretreatment has proven to be a useful method for selectively reducing the lignin content of lignocellulosic biomass without significant loss in carbohydrates, thus realizing an important increase in biodigestibility. In lime pretreatment, the biomass is pretreated with calcium hydroxide and water under different conditions of temperature and ...
