Prevalent Behavior of Smooth Strongly Monotone Discrete-Time Dynamical Systems [PDF]
For C1-smooth strongly monotone discrete-time dynamical systems, it is shown that ``convergence to linearly stable cycles" is a prevalent asymptotic behavior in the measuretheoretic sense. The results are then applied to classes of time-periodic parabolic equations and give new results on prevalence of convergence to periodic solutions.

Forecasting Tunisian type 2 diabetes prevalence to 2027: validation of a simple model. [PDF]
BACKGROUND: Most projections of type 2 diabetes (T2D) prevalence are simply based on demographic change (i.e. ageing). We developed a model to predict future trends in T2D prevalence in Tunisia, explicitly taking into account trends in major risk factors

Bayesian Prevalence Estimation from Pooled and Individual Data [PDF]
Pooled and individual disease testing are common methods for determining the population prevalences of diseases. Recently, researchers have used Monte Carlo Markov Chain methods to estimate population prevalence from the combined streams of these two types of testing data.

On the prevalence of horseshoes [PDF]
In this paper the symbolic dynamics of several differentiable systems are investigated. It is shown that many well-known dynamical systems, including Axiom A {\text {A}} systems, piecewise monotonic maps of the interval, the Lorenz attractor and Abraham-Smale examples, have inside them subsystems conjugate to subshifts of ...

Using molecular data for epidemiological inference: assessing the prevalence of Trypanosoma brucei rhodesiense in Tsetse in Serengeti, Tanzania [PDF]
Background: Measuring the prevalence of transmissible Trypanosoma brucei rhodesiense in tsetse populations is essential for understanding transmission dynamics, assessing human disease risk and monitoring spatio-temporal trends and the impact of control ...

From thread to yarn, and yarn to thread: a complex case of persistent left superior vena cava
Introduction: Persistent left superior vena cava (PLSVC) is a rare venous anomaly, occurring in 0.3–0.5% of the general population and up to 4.3% of patients with heart defects. It forms from the junction of the left subclavian and internal jugular veins,

The prevalence of autism spectrum disorders in China: A comprehensive meta-analysis [PDF]
There are conflicting prevalence estimates of autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) in mainland China (China thereafter). This study is a comprehensive meta-analysis of the pooled prevalence of ASDs in the general population in China.

Automatically Evaluating Opinion Prevalence in Opinion Summarization [PDF]
When faced with a large number of product reviews, it is not clear that a human can remember all of them and weight opinions representatively to write a good reference summary. We propose an automatic metric to test the prevalence of the opinions that a summary expresses, based on counting the number of reviews that are consistent with each statement ...

The epidemiology of HIV infection in Zambia [PDF]
Population surveys of health and fertility are an important source of information about demographic trends and their likely impact on the HIV/AIDS epidemic.

Is no longer increasing in some countries, but the reasons for this are unclear A broad consensus exists that in most Western countries the prevalence of asthma increased over the last four decades of the 20th century. This is based largely on repeat studies of school age children. Evidence is emerging that in recent years this trend has flattened or
