Knowledge‐based and deep learning‐based automated chest wall segmentation in magnetic resonance images of extremely dense breasts

open access: yesMedical Physics, Volume 46, Issue 10, Page 4405-4416, October 2019., 2019
Purpose Segmentation of the chest wall, is an important component of methods for automated analysis of breast magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Methods reported to date show promising results but have difficulties delineating the muscle border correctly in breasts with a large proportion of fibroglandular tissue (i.e., dense breasts).

The Effects on Re‐offending of Custodial vs. Non‐custodial Sanctions: An Updated Systematic Review of the State of Knowledge

open access: yesCampbell Systematic Reviews, Volume 11, Issue 1, Page 1-92, 2015., 2015
This Campbell systematic review compares effects of custodial and non‐custodial sentences on re‐offending. The authors found 14 high‐quality studies, including three randomised controlled trials and two natural experiments. Physiological role of potassium channels in mammalian germ cell differentiation, maturation, and capacitation

open access: yesAndrology, Volume 13, Issue 2, Page 184-201, February 2025.
Abstract Background Ion channels are essential for differentiation and maturation of germ cells, and even for fertilization in mammals. Different types of potassium channels have been identified, which are grouped into voltage‐gated channels (Kv), ligand‐gated channels (Kligand), inwardly rectifying channels (Kir), and tandem pore domain channels (K2P).

Photo‐Responsive Decellularized Small Intestine Submucosa Hydrogels

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 34, Issue 36, September 4, 2024.
This work demonstrates an aqueous synthesis of norbornene‐modified decellularized small intestine submucosa (dSIS‐NB) and its photocrosslinking into bioactive hydrogels. Compared with uncrosslinked dSIS and collagen matrices, orthogonally crosslinked dSIS‐NB hydrogels support rapid dissemination of cancer cells and have superior vasculogenic and ...
