Influence of intra‐ and interspecific variation in predator–prey body size ratios on trophic interaction strengths

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, 2020
Predation is a pervasive force that structures food webs and directly influences ecosystem functioning. The relative body sizes of predators and prey may be an important determinant of interaction strengths.

Altruistic Duality in Evolutionary Game Theory

open access: yes, 2003
A game-theoretic model of social preference and enlightened self-interest is formulated. Existence of symmetry and duality in the game matrices with altruistic social preference is revealed.

Prey–Predator Communication: For Your Sensors Only [PDF]

open access: yesCurrent Biology, 2007
Prey have evolved myriad strategies to escape predation. Ground squirrels tailor their defensive signals to the predator at hand and use infrared warning signals in response to heat-sensitive rattlesnakes.

Complexity in a prey-predator model [PDF]

open access: yesRevue Africaine de Recherche en Informatique et Mathématiques Appliquées, 2008
In this paper we consider a predator-prey model given by a reaction-diffusion system. It incorporates the Holling-type-II and a modified Leslie-Gower functional response. We focus on qualitaive analysis, bifurcation mecanisms and patterns formation. Nous considérons un modèle proie-prédateur exprimé sous forme de système de réaction diffusion.

Engineering Active Metal Oxide Interfaces on MOF‐Derived 3D Carbon Architecture for Small‐Molecule Biosensing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
MOFs awaken graphene. MOF‐assisted ultrafast laser writing patterns porous laser‐induced graphene with CuO‐active nanodomains, creating an aptamer‐ready interface for small‐molecule capture. Coupled to an extended‐gate FET, the hybrid converts subtle biochemical binding into a clear electrical signal for resilient cortisol sensing in aqueous media ...

A two-patch prey-predator model with predator dispersal driven by the predation strength

open access: yesMathematical Biosciences and Engineering, 2017
Foraging movements of predator play an important role in population dynamics of prey-predator systems, which have been considered as mechanisms that contribute to spatial self-organization of prey and predator.

Multiple positive periodic solutions of a Gause-type predator-prey model with Allee effect and functional responses

open access: yesAIMS Mathematics, 2020
This paper deals with a Gause-type predator-prey model with Allee effect and Holling type III functional response. We also consider the influence of predator competition and the artificial harvesting on predator-prey system.

Femtosecond‐Laser‐Fabricated 3D CYTOP Microfluidic Chips Enabling Super‐Resolution Live Imaging of Cell Behavior in Confined Microspaces

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Using two‐photon polymerization of SU‐8 together with mold processing allowed the creation of defect‐free, flexible 3D microfluidic structures with sub‐micrometer precision in CYTOP. The fabricated CYTOP microfluidic chips enabled super‐resolution imaging of cancer cells in the microchannels, clearly visualizing previously undetectable fine structural ...

Dynamics for the diffusive Leslie-Gower model with double free boundaries

open access: yes, 2017
In this paper we investigate a free boundary problem for the diffusive Leslie-Gower prey-predator model with double free boundaries in one space dimension.

Enhanced Trapping with an Optimized Graphene‐Based Bowtie Plasmonic Nanotweezer: Design, Analysis, and Bioanalytical Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, EarlyView.
A graphene‐based bowtie plasmonic nanotweezer is designed and optimized using particle swarm optimization and transfer matrix analysis. The structure achieves strong field confinement, delivering trapping forces up to 6 nN W−1 for 10 nm bioparticles with sixfold lower power requirements than conventional designs.
