Studies on the eyes of bigeyes (Teleostei Priacanthidae) with special reference to the tapetum lucidum

Eyes of glasseyes (Priacanthidae) show conspicuous eyeshine and have a brilliant tapetum in the chorioid. The tapetum underlies the entire retina; it is composed of several rows of reflecting cells which contain stacks of flat crystals lying parallel to the retinal surface in the central fundus and obliquely towards the periphery.

Distribucion, Abundancia y Reproduccion de Priacanthus arenatus Cuvier (Pisces: Priacanthidae), en la Plataforma Continental del Sur del Golfo de Mexico

Priacanthus arenatus is a dominant species in the southern Gulf of Mexico. It is a typical marine species non-estuarinedependent, and is distributed throughout the Campeche Sound area, generally in depths greater than 36 m. It is not found in areas influenced by coastal discharges. The size of first maturity is 138 mm TL.
