THE ROLE OF BIOFUELS IN FOOD COMMODITY PRICES VOLATILITY AND LAND USE [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Competitiveness, 2017
The goal of this study is to investigate the cause of a growing food price volatility. We analyse whether food price volatility is mainly induced by transfer of the oil price shock or if it is the consequence of a rising and competitive biofuel ...

Hands‐on protocol for preparing water‐soluble fractions from agri‐food samples for NMR‐based metabolomics analysis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This research protocol outlines a workflow for nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR)‐based metabolomics in the agri‐food sector. Using two case studies—strawberry leaves (solid matrix) and wine (liquid matrix)—it details the procedures for sample preparation, data acquisition, and processing.

Energy Price Transmissions during Extreme Movements [PDF]

open access: yesSSRN Electronic Journal, 2012
This paper investigates price transmissions across European energy forward markets at distinct maturities during both normal times and extreme ‡uctuation periods. To this end, we rely on the traditional Granger causality test (in mean) and its multivariate extension in tail distribution developped by Candelon, Joets, and Tokpavi (2012).

TMC4 localizes to multiple taste cell types in the mouse taste papillae

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Transmembrane channel‐like 4 (TMC4), a voltage‐dependent chloride channel, plays a critical role in amiloride‐insensitive salty taste transduction. TMC4 is broadly expressed in all mature taste cell types, suggesting a possible involvement of multiple cell types in this pathway.

Price transmission and estimations of price elasticity of secondary demand functions: application on commodity market for food grains

open access: yesAgricultural Economics (AGRICECON), 2005
The paper is focused on the quantitative analysis of the price transmission and on its use for the estimations of the direct price elasticity of the vertical-derived demand functions.

Electricity Transmission Pricing and Performance-based Regulation [PDF]

open access: yesThe Energy Journal, 2005
Performance-based regulation (PBR) is influenced by the Bayesian and non-Bayesian incentive mechanisms. While Bayesian incentives are impractical for direct implementation, the insights from their properties can be combined with practical non-Bayesian mechanisms for application to transmission pricing. This combination suggests an approach based on the

Down‐regulation of Shh in the hair follicles of mice during chemotherapy‐induced hair loss is mediated by the JAK/STAT1 signaling pathway

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We found that during chemotherapy‐induced alopecia (CIA), Sonic hedgehog (Shh) expression significantly decreased in hair follicle Shh+ cells, whereas the Janus‐activated kinase/signal transducer and activator of transcription 1 (JAK/STAT1) signaling pathway was markedly activated.

Cross-country analysis of efficiency and productivity in the biotech industry: an application of the generalized metafrontier Malmquist productivity index

open access: yesAgricultural Economics (AGRICECON), 2015
The paper provides insights into the price transmission of dairy sector in Slovakia and examined the nature of price adjustments and market efficiency along the vertical chain.

Do inventories have an impact on price transmission? Evidence from the Canadian chicken industry [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper investigates the influence of inventories in explaining the magnitude of price transmission. The empirical strategy consists of two distinct steps.

Raman‐based label‐free microscopic analysis of the pancreas in living zebrafish larvae

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Forward stimulated Raman scattering (F‐SRS) and epi coherent anti‐Stokes Raman scattering (E‐CARS) allow label‐free discrimination of distinct subcellular structures in the pancreas of living zebrafish larvae. Given the straightforward applicability, we anticipate broad implementation of Raman microscopy in other organs and across various biomedical ...
