Cobalt-Catalyzed Acceptorless Dehydrogenative Coupling of Primary Alcohols to Esters.
A novel catalytic system with a tripodal cobalt complex is developed for efficiently converting primary alcohols to esters. KO tBu is found essential to the transformation. A preliminary mechanistic study suggests a plausible reaction route that involves

14‐day casting‐induced immobilization reduced gastrocnemius muscle mass and increased non‐heme iron and ferritin heavy chain levels. Despite iron accumulation, transferrin receptor 1 and iron regulatory protein 2 were paradoxically upregulated. Lipid peroxidation was elevated without compensatory antioxidant responses.

Heterobimetallic Complexes as Catalyst Precursors for the Oppenauer-Type Oxidation of Alcohols
A heterobimetallic Ru(II)-Rh(I) complex has been identified as a potent catalyst precursor for the Oppenauer-type oxidation of alcohols. With 0.1–0.5 mol% of this complex and K2CO3 as the co-catalyst, it is possible to oxidize secondary and ...

The effect of alcohol on the performance of lipase-immobilized enzymatic membrane reactor for esterification of (R,S)-ketoprofen [PDF]
The effect of alcohols on the performance of lipase-immobilized enzymatic membrane reactor (EMR) for enantioselective esterification of (R,S)-ketoprofen has been studied. In this work, mixed solvent medium was used and the (R)-ketoprofen was reacted with

Gas-Phase Photodegradation of Decane and Methanol on TiO_2: Dynamic Surface Chemistry Characterized by Diffuse Reflectance FTIR [PDF]
Diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy (DRIFTS) was used to study illuminated TiO2 surfaces under both vacuum conditions, and in the presence of organic molecules (decane and methanol).

Mass spectrometry based identification of AMP‐O‐Tris generated by Thermococcus onnurineus Cas10
Isolated Thermococcus onnurineus Cas10 generates the noncanonical ATP‐derived product AMP‐O‐Tris while in Tris‐containing buffer as identified via mass spectrometry, revealing relaxed nucleophile selectivity under isolated conditions. These findings suggest that multiprotein Csm complex assembly restricts Cas10 reactivity toward canonical cyclic ...

The properties of electrolyte solutions in nonaqueous and mixed solvents [PDF]
This paper constitutes a reviev of the results of investigations on electrolyte solutions in some organic solvents that behaves similarly to water from thermochemical point of vi,»w as well as in some water - organic mixed solvents.

Investigating Interactions of Biomembranes and Alcohols: A Multiscale Approach
We study the interaction of lipid bilayers with short chain alcohols using molecular dynamics on different length scales. We use detailed atomistic modeling and modeling on the length scale where an alcohol is just an amphiphilic dimer.

An Analysis of the Combustion Behavior of Ethanol, Butanol, Iso-Octane, Gasoline, and Methane in a Direct-Injection Spark-Ignition Research Engine [PDF]
Future automotive fuels are expected to contain significant quantities of bio-components. This poses a great challenge to the designers of novel low-CO2 internal combustion engines because biofuels have very different properties to those of most typical ...
