Cognitive Radio Transmission Strategies for Primary Erasure Channels [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2010
A fundamental problem in cognitive radio systems is that the cognitive radio is ignorant of the primary channel state and the interference it inflicts on the primary license holder. In this paper we assume that the primary transmitter sends packets across an erasure channel and the primary receiver employs ACK/NAK feedback (ARQ) to retransmit erased ...

A case of primary amenorrhea, diabetes and anosmia

open access: yesGynecological Endocrinology, 2000
This case details a patient with primary amenorrhea with an unusual cause. She presented at age 16 with short stature, minimal sexual development and no prior menses. Her history was significant for poorly controlled type 1 diabetes. She had been evaluated previously for growth hormone deficiency, and had received a short course of growth hormone ...

Misoprostol Versus Oxytocin for the Prevention of Postpartum Haemorrhage: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis Including Individual Participant Data

open access: yesBJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics &Gynaecology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Postpartum haemorrhage (PPH) is the leading cause of maternal mortality. Uterotonics are the mainstay of PPH prevention. Objectives To compare the efficacy of misoprostol and oxytocin for the prevention of PPH and to evaluate the trustworthiness of these randomised controlled trials (RCTs).

Primary Amenorrhea in a Thalassemia Major

open access: yesJournal of South Asian Federation of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, 2014
ABSTRACT Background Thalassemia major is a severe type of hemolytic anemia. Hypertransfusion therapy in these patients can lead to iron overload and iron tissue toxicity leading to structural, metabolic and endocrine abnormalities. Case Report We hereby present a case of 16-year-old unmarried girl with thalassemia major presenting with primary ...

Cognitive MAC Protocols for General Primary Network Models [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2009
We consider the design of cognitive Medium Access Control (MAC) protocols enabling a secondary (unlicensed) transmitter-receiver pair to communicate over the idle periods of a set of primary (licensed) channels. More specifically, we propose cognitive MAC protocols optimized for both slotted and un-slotted primary networks.

Planning postpartum contraception for women with substance use disorders: Utilisation of the birth admission

open access: yesAustralian and New Zealand Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, EarlyView.
Background Women with substance use disorders (SUD) use less contraception, and experience higher rates of unintended pregnancy, compared to women without SUD. Contraception is discussed at the six‐week postnatal appointment, which many women with SUD do not attend.

Cooperative Access Schemes for Efficient SWIPT Transmissions in Cognitive Radio Networks [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2016
We investigate joint information and energy cooperative schemes in a slotted-time cognitive radio network with a primary transmitter-receiver pair and a set of secondary transmitter-receiver pairs. The primary transmitter is assumed to be an energy-harvesting node. We propose a three-stage cooperative transmission protocol.

An information criterion for auxiliary variable selection in incomplete data analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Statistical inference is considered for variables of interest, called primary variables, when auxiliary variables are observed along with the primary variables. We consider the setting of incomplete data analysis, where some primary variables are not observed.
