Primary wound healing in the septic field

The American Journal of Surgery, 1968
Abstract 1. 1. Attention is directed to the apparent low incidence of wound infection after the emergency thoracotomy for cardiac massage is carried out under septic conditions. In the hope of learning some reason for this a group of fifty-four such patients was evaluated, showing the procedure to result in three infections (5.5 per cent). 2.

Primary Care: A Special Field

1978
The level of primary professional care is a key to medical care as a whole. Not only is it a key but it controls the quality and the quantity of care at the other levels of care. Placed as it is between self-care by individuals and families and specialist care based on expensive modern technologies, it acts as a dominant influence on the use of ...

A FIELD TEST OF PRIMARY TRIANGULATION THEODOLITES

Canadian Journal of Research, 1934
A form of test of the accuracy of precision theodolites is described in which angles were measured out of doors at night with different instruments, the targets being small lights placed at about two miles from the observing station. Probable errors computed from the observations were the basis of comparison and it is shown how these were derived and ...

Primary abilities and field-independence of adopted children

Behavior Genetics, 1973
Scores on the verbal, perceptual, quantitative, and spatial subtests of the Primary Mental Abilities Test of 84 adopted children were correlated with social class of the adoptive parents. The relationships were low, suggesting that the social class differences in abilities of “own” children are predominantly due to genetic factors.

Transforming multiples into primaries: experience with field data

SEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts 2005, 2005
In most seismic processing flows multiples have been considered as noise and, therefore, are discarded after the removal process. In this paper we will argue that multiple reflections contain a wealth of information that should be used in seismic processing to improve the resolution of reservoir images beyond current capability.

Extensional primary field approximations for viscoelastic media

Rheologica Acta, 1971
TheTrouton ratio, defined as the ratio of the extensional to the shear viscosity, may reach very high levels in viscoelastic media. Consequently the diagonal components of the deformation rate tensor, often of negligible importance in the analysis of flows ofNewtonian fluids, may be of primary interest here.

SPACE-TIME FLUCTUATIONS COUPLED TO PRIMARY FIELDS

Modern Physics Letters A, 1992
The β-functions and the c-function are calculated in a two-dimensional field theory where the coupling parameters are functions of fields. The action of the theory is given by a combination of the Polyakov action for string theory and the Zamolodchikov action for the deformation of conformal field theory.

Dark-Field Examination In Early Primary Syphilis

JAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association, 1975
To the Editor.— Regarding the article by Duncan et al (228:859, 1974), I want to emphasize that specific and nonspecific serological tests for syphilis are not reactive in early primary lesions. In the Los Angeles City Health Department, I treated a male prostitute who was keenly aware of the great hazard connected with his occupation. He appeared in

Primary Imaging Modes in Near-Field Microscopy

1996
Near field scanning optical microscopy in its various modalities has now reached a stage where it can be considered a powerful, main-stream, analytical tool [1–16]. The basic promise of the technique, viz. providing optical contrast at a resolution below the classical diffraction limit, has been realized in a variety of settings.
