Experiment and Dynamic Characteristics Simulation of Primary Frequency Regulation of a 660 MW Nuclear Power Unit [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
The operation mode of nuclear power units is very different from that of thermal power units, and the specific data on the response of relevant nuclear power units to grid frequency changes are relatively lacking at present.

Establishing an Apheresis Medicine Program in a Resource‐Constrained Setting: A 5‐Year Experience From Lagos, Nigeria

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Establishing a comprehensive apheresis medicine program in a resource‐constrained setting presents significant structural, financial, and logistical challenges. Despite the growing clinical importance of apheresis services globally, published experience from sub‐Saharan Africa remains sparse.

Serum Myonectin Levels Are Positively Associated With Physical Function and Lower Frailty‐Related Limitation in Maintenance Hemodialysis Patients: A Cross‐Sectional Study

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) patients frequently suffer from frailty, characterized by reduced physical function and poor prognosis. Myokines, such as myonectin, secreted by muscle, are emerging regulators of systemic health. This study investigated the relationship between serum myonectin, adipokines (adiponectin, omentin), and ...

Reserve allocation of high-penetration renewable energy grids considering frequency security

open access: yesFrontiers in Energy Research
As the penetration rate of renewable energy in the power grid continues to rise, the reserve criteria for traditional power grids dominated by synchronous generators (SGs) have difficulty meeting system frequency security requirements.

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Dual-loop primary frequency regulation controller for VSC-HVDC system [PDF]

open access: yes2017 IEEE Manchester PowerTech, 2017
This paper presents a frequency control mechanism for an AC system through the active and reactive power loops of a VSC-HVDC system. The proposed scheme makes use of the reactive power loop for inertia support by exploiting the voltage-power sensitivity of loads, and active power droop control has been used to provide governor-like support following ...

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Optimization of Primary Frequency Regulation of 650MW Thermal Power Plant

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2021
Abstract Wind power and photovoltaic power generation are developing rapidly, and installed capacity accounts for an increasing proportion of the power system. However, most new energy power stations are not equipped with energy storage equipment.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.
