Aqueous humor level of sCD44 in patients with degenerative myopia and primary open-angle glaucoma

open access: yesBMC Research Notes, 2009
Background The transmembrane glycoprotein CD44 is a major hyaluronan cell surface receptor widely distributed in eye tissues and fluids. The shed ectodomain of CD44 is termed soluble CD44 and is toxic to human retinal ganglion cells in cell culture.

Influence of posterior staphyloma morphology on macular hole closure patterns in highly myopic eyes

open access: yesActa Ophthalmologica, Volume 103, Issue 8, Page 1020-1031, December 2025.
Abstract Purpose To examine how posterior staphyloma morphology affects macular hole closure patterns in highly myopic eyes. Methods Retrospective study analysing 188 highly myopic macular holes (MMH) with axial length ≥ 26.5 mm that underwent surgery with either internal limiting membrane (ILM) peeling or inverted flap technique over a 10‐year period.

Thermal Annealing Enhances Piezoelectricity and Regenerative Potential of PVDF‐TrFE Nanofiber Scaffolds

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, Volume 10, Issue 21, November 6, 2025.
Thermal annealing improves the structure, stiffness, and piezoelectric properties of poly(vinylidene flouride‐trifluoroethylene) (PVDF‐TrFE) nanofiber scaffolds. These annealed scaffolds promote Schwann cell proliferation and matrix remodeling in vitro and demonstrate in vivo biocompatibility.

Single‐Cell Transcriptome Analysis Reveals That Hmga2 Regulates Neuroinflammation and Retinal Function by Modulating Müller Cell Autophagy Through PI3K/AKT Signaling Following MCAO‐Induced Retinal Ischemia

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 43, November 20, 2025.
Employing snRNA‐seq post‐MCAO‐induced retinal ischemia (RI), this study revealed a novel Hmga2‐high Müller cell subpopulation. Hmga2 knockout alleviated neuroinflammation and RI symptoms, potentially by binding PI3K and regulating Müller cell autophagy.
